[15:12] <Broose> Alright, the last time we played, your party was standing outside the Laughing One's former hideout with Sendoa, Luthor, and Mikel.
[15:12] <Broose> Kestrel's back inside, looking through the bandit king's hoard.
[15:12] <Broose> What do you do?
[15:14] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel looks over the hoard appraisingly, noting anything unusual (if there is anything) and then picks up all the gems and pockets them. What is the estimate of the hoard's value?
[15:15] <October> Norman remains seated, quiet and waiting.
[15:16] <Broose> Kestrel, you find the following: five hundred silver coins, fifty gold coins, fifteen cut gems, an ornate dagger, and a bundle of furs.
[15:17] <joo> What kind of furs are they?
[15:17] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel secrets away the gold coins, cut gems, and ornate dagger in her backpack. She looks over the furs curiously. What are they?
[15:17] <Vaylon Kenadell> I'd also like to know more about the tunic from earlier. What is it like?
[15:17] <Broose> The gems are worth fifty coins each. The dagger is worth 75. The bundle of furs is worth 150.
[15:17] <Vaylon Kenadell> And the arrows -- anything unusual-looking about them?
[15:18] <Broose> The furs are of ermine and wolf, it seems.
[15:19] <Broose> The tunic is as plain as can be, Kestrel. You notice nothing unusual about it. Same with the arrows.
[15:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hmm.
[15:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel puts the tunic away in her backpack, but the arrows and the strings she tucks under one arm, going over to the stairway, calling upward: "Norman! Oliver! Could you come down here, please? I need your help!"
[15:22] <Broose> Sendoa glances down into the underground stairway. "I'll take care of the Laughing One for now." He says.
[15:22] <Broose> The Laughing One is looking a little sick. His breathing is heavy.
[15:23] <joo> Oliver goes back down into the chamber and finds Kestrel.
[15:23] <October> Norman gets to his feet slowly and wandering down into the depths after Oliver.
[15:23] <Broose> The demon band is getting drunk as hell at one of the tables, near some dead bodies.
[15:24] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael, meanwhile, is preparing his ritual sacrifice to Aladine.
[15:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel takes out the bundle of arrows and hands them to Oliver, and she hands the bundle of strings to Norman. "I found these among the Laughing One's treasures. I believe you could use these. There are also a number of coins, if you wish to help me gather them together and carry them out."
[15:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hmm -- I'm curious about the "viciously sharp looking dagger" that belonged to the Laughing One. Presumably he dropped it somewhere in the cavern. Can I retrieve it?
[15:27] <October> Norman looks down curiously at the strings and then peers back up, "Are you really sure I can have these?"
[15:27] <Broose> There's two ammo worth of arrows here, Oliver. You don't notice anything unusual about them yet.
[15:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Of course, Norman! I believe we should share and share alike." She smiles sweely at him.
[15:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> "You helped out, after all; I would feel bad if you went away empty-handed for all the trouble we've been through."
[15:29] <Broose> Kestrel, he did indeed drop it here. You can pick it up.
[15:29] <October> He blinks in vague surprise, nodding slowly. "Thank you. I owe you one, I guess! ....Soooo... Where are these things you need help with?"
[15:30] <Broose> It weighs one and has +1 piercing.
[15:30] <joo> Oliver examines the arrows. "Thank you. More coins, eh? I do know what anyone could need so many coins for."
[15:31] <joo> *don't
[15:31] <Broose> The arrows are pretty light, Oliver, but they still weigh 1.
[15:33] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel finally abandons the roasted goat meat, and she picks up the Laughing One's dagger.
[15:34] <Vaylon Kenadell> She throws the goat meat toward the demons.
[15:34] <Broose> The demons cheer in gratitude, Kestrel, and feast on the goat meat.
[15:35] <joo> Oliver looks at the demons in astonishment.
[15:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel also picks up the throwing dagger she lobbed at the Laughing One earlier. She wipes it off on a dead man's shirt and then casually puts it back into her hair.
[15:37] <October> Norman looks over at the demons and appears just as astonished, though it's more like he's seeing them for the first time in the room.
[15:37] <October> Observant Norman is observant.
[15:37] <Vaylon Kenadell> Anyway -- after all that, Kestrel leads Norman and Oliver over to the hoard, making a sweeping gesture. "The coins! And I found a chest, too. That's where the arrows and strings were." She turns and points behind them toward the throne.

[15:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hello, Zoani.
[15:38] <Zoani> Hey there.
[15:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> There's a game of Dungeon World going on right now.
[15:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> You're more than welcome to watch!
[15:39] <Zoani> Sure, that'd be great!
[15:39] <Zoani> How do I go about doing that?
[15:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> "We can use the chest to carry the coins if we have no other place to put them. I figure there's enough here to keep us in board and bed for some time." She leans down next to Oliver, putting her hands on her knees. "Coins are so we can sleep in a comfortable bed instead of on the cold hard ground..."
[15:39] <joo> You're already doing it.
[15:40] <Zoani> Oh, perfect. Forgive my interruption.
[15:44] <joo> Oliver shrugs. "Each to their own."
[15:47] <joo> Oliver eyes the chest. "I don't know how much help I can be in carrying that thing."
[15:47] <Broose> The silver coins weigh 5 in total. The gold coins don't weight anything.
[15:47] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Hmmm..."
[15:47] <Broose> -t
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> What gold coins?
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell>
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "I've still got a little bit of room in this sack from the earlier bandit camp. I'll put as many as I can in here and you two can take however much you care to carry."
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> How many coins can Kestrel carry in this sack?
[15:50] <Broose> Kestrel, you can carry another 200 coins yourself.
[15:50] <joo> Oliver lifts up his own bulging sack, and eyes it dubiously.
[15:52] <Broose> Oliver can carry the 300 other coins, if he wishes to.
[15:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> So be it. She spends some time collecting the coins. She lifts the heavy sack and grunts pathetically under the weight. "Oof."
[15:52] <October> Norman studies some of the coins before taking whatever he can carry.
[15:53] <Broose> The coins bear the image of King Itzal, Norman.
[15:54] <October> Itzal good!
[15:54] <Broose> >:C
[15:54] <Vaylon Kenadell> Sal Goodman!
[15:54] <Vaylon Kenadell> So he became a King after giving up the lawyering business, eh?
[15:54] <Broose> I believe Norman could carry a hundred himself.
[15:55] <Broose> Does Oliver take any coins?
[15:55] <joo> Hmm...
[15:55] <joo> How much do you think he can fit in his sack? 100?
[15:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> After that, Kestrel goes over to the demons and watches them curiously. What are they doing?
[15:56] <Broose> Around that sounds right, Oliver. I imagine his sack isn't as big, or else he wouldn't have taken it. He's too short.
[15:56] <Broose> Kestrel, the demons are tearing at the goat meat. The one with three arms has a distinct advantage.
[15:57] <joo> Then Oliver's sack is already full.
[15:58] <Broose> Alright, then -- Norman, there are 300 coins left, so you pick them all up.
[15:58] * Arcadum (62ef262a@NewNet-FCD034EA.mibbit.com) has joined #DungeonWorld
[15:58] <Broose> Err, wait, Norman can only carry 100. So there are 200 left.
[15:58] <joo> Greetings.
[15:58] <Broose> Welcome, Arcadum.
[15:59] <Broose> We have stalled for you with looting business.
[15:59] <Arcadum> LOOTING BUSINESS
[15:59] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael has been preparing his sacrificial ritual, presumably.
[16:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> There's also a bundle of furs.
[16:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> Will someone take that?
[16:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> What does Kestrel know about demons? Are demons general knowledge?
[16:01] <Broose> You might know something, Kestrel. You can spout lore if you want.
[16:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> !r 2d6+1 Spout Lore
[16:02] <@pagebot> Vaylon: 5=1+3(+1) Spout Lore
[16:02] <Broose> Unfortunately, you don't know anything about them.
[16:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> Damn.
[16:02] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael has indeed been preparing his various rituals to Aladine.
[16:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel goes over to Norman and Oliver. "Do either of you know what Cor Cy Ael is doing?"
[16:03] <joo> Oliver examines the bodies strewn throughout the room. Are they all bandits? Does he find any sign of Sendoa's former company?
[16:05] <October> Norman shrugs, glancing back at the steps behind them, "No clue."
[16:05] <Broose> There's no sign of anyone other than bandits, Oliver, but you notice a few bodies shoved against the corner that your party didn't brutally murder.
[16:06] <joo> And these are bandit bodies?
[16:06] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hey. Kestrel brutually murdered nobody in this particular room.
[16:06] <Broose> As far as you know, Oliver, they are bandits as well.
[16:07] <Broose> What exactly is Cor Cy Ael doing, again? Burning all the bodies in a bonfire, right?
[16:07] <joo> Oliver looks up at Kestrel, and shrugs. "I don't know. I saw him dragging some bodies away."
[16:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel will take the bundle of furs, too, because why not.
[16:07] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael is currently in the process of arranging the bodies in a circle. Cor Cy Ael is in the middle of writing elvish runes in blood on their foreheads.
[16:07] <Broose> It weighs two, Kestrel.
[16:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> That puts me at 10/8 load.
[16:08] <Broose> Take -1 ongoing for being over your load limit.
[16:10] <Broose> Sendoa gives you a strange look, Cor Cy Ael, and then shouts down into the underground staircase: "Are you almost done down there?"
[16:10] <joo> Can Oliver determine how they died, and how long ago?
[16:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> Since Oliver is busy inspecting some bodies, Kestrel talks to Norman instead. "Should we wait for him to finish or just leave for town?"
[16:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I'm anxious about waiting near those ... things." She waves a hand toward the demons.
[16:12] <Broose> They were killed in a fight. They have multiple wounds all over their bodies. They can't have been killed more than a few days ago.
[16:12] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will answer the inquiry. "The ritual will not take long Sha'Kel-Kai."
[16:14] <Broose> The party can rest here for awhile, while Cor Cy Ael goes about his ritual.
[16:14] <October> He nods again, "I dunno what the hell those things are... I agree with you."
[16:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> To Norman, she says: "Let's go up top and rest a bit. I wish to speak to Sendoa as well."
[16:17] <Broose> For five rations, everyone can make camp. Whose rations will be used?
[16:17] <October> Norman follows, more than willing to get the heck out of the room.
[16:17] <October> Norman's
[16:17] <Broose> Okay, Norman can spread his rations around, if he wants.
[16:18] <Broose> Actually, it'll just cost four.
[16:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Great! Kestrel kisses Norman on the cheek for being so generous.
[16:20] <Broose> You all rest, and Cor Cy Ael does his wacky elf ritual.
[16:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel levels up while she watches Cor Cy Ael perform his ritual.
[16:20] <Broose> Kestrel can level up, now.
[16:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> I choose +1 CHA and Cheap Shot.
[16:20] <joo> Oliver falls asleep, his previous night of keeping watch catching up to him.
[16:21] <Broose> Sendoa shrugs. "I suppose you've all earned some rest. I'll keep watch and look over this one."
[16:22] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will arrange the bodies and finish writing his elvish runes. The bodies are arranged to make the elvish symbol of Aladine.
[16:22] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will speak in elvish, his voice beginning to magically radiate through the area. "Ss' Aladine In'kai Shar-kai Oporline Kai"
[16:24] <Arcadum> Once the prayer has been cited, Cor Cy Ael will begin to sing, his baritone carrying his voice to the sky. The hymn to Aladine resonates all around him. He calls for Aladine to assist him with his vengeance!
[16:26] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael, a shadowy figure appears before you and the sky suddenly darkens. Only you see this.
[16:27] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will prostrate himself in the messenger's presence.
[16:28] <Broose> This aspect of Aladine takes the form of a woman with blackened skin. Aladine speaks to you, in a thin, breathy voice...
[16:29] <Broose> "Cor Cy Ael, my champion, you have served me well thus far in your short life."
[16:30] <Broose> "I will give you a small part of my power, Cor Cy Ael, to aid you in your vengenace."
[16:32] <Broose> "You will do this for me in return: stay with these people. Stay in their good graces, even if it means witholding a few lives from my grasp. In time, you will fulfill a greater quest for me."
[16:32] <Broose> How do you respond, Cor Cy Ael?
[16:33] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will nod and accept with utmost holy fervor. "Oh great Aladine, what of their lives? Should I slow their ascension to to you as well?"
[16:36] <Broose> The aspect of Aladine nods. "For now, yes." It raises its arms, and shadowy tendrils reach out to you, Cor Cy Ael. You feel yourself being touched by Aladine's power. "Go with my grace, Cor Cy Ael. I will appear to you again, if you serve me well."
[16:36] <Broose> With that, the vision fades.
[16:37] <Broose> The bodies have faded away, for everyone.
[16:37] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gets to her feet, stunned to silence.
[16:38] <Broose> What do you choose for your level up, Cor Cy Ael, besides your cleric multiclass?
[16:39] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will stand tall, pure shadow flowing from his eyes his strength increases by an additional +1.
[16:41] <Arcadum> "Listen well Sha'Kel-Kai, and rejoice!" He will turn to the Sha'Kel Kai his eyes dancing in a strange manner. "I have been summoned to your side to aid you in your endeavors! Aladine has even offered you the gift of extended life!"
[16:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives him a thumbs up.
[16:42] <joo> Oliver's eyes widen. "Interesting!"
[16:43] <Broose> What spells do you gain from this communion, Cor Cy Ael?
[16:43] <Broose> You can prepare two level one Cleric spells.
[16:43] <October> Norman isn't paying any attention, trying the new strings on his fiddle to see if they fit correctly.
[16:43] <Broose> They fit perfectly, Norman.
[16:43] <Arcadum> "This is a cause for celebration!" Cor Cy Ael will pick up his scythe Talcitor. He will swing it around wildly in excitement!
[16:44] <Broose> Mikel backs away!
[16:45] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will stick the weapon in the ground and run to Oliver lifting him high of the ground and will show him the Ala'Kai EnKetheska
[16:45] <Arcadum> Starts to dance with Oliver!
[16:45] <joo> Oliver looks alarmed,
[16:47] <October> The bard finally looks up, eyes going round at the scene before him, "Should I... play something?" He murmurs in shock.
[16:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Yes, Norman! Play us a happy song."
[16:48] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will prepare his rotes as well as Bless and Magic Weapon
12[16:48] <October> Well, did the strings fit, Broose?
[16:49] <October> Whoops.
[16:49] <October> Sorry. Didn't see that.
[16:49] <Broose> They'll fit any instrument, Norman. And they don't appear to need to be tuned.
[16:49] <October> He hops up and immediately begins to play. No need to ask him twice!
[16:51] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will offer a rare smile. "Ready whenever you are Shakel-kai! My rituals are complete!"
[16:51] <Broose> Sendoa seems to be in good spirits, despite all the crazy death rituals. The Laughing One looks even worse than before. His skin has a sickly grey pallor to it.
[16:52] <Broose> "Ah... if we could... hurry along..." The Laughing One says faintly under all the commotion.
[16:53] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel peers at the Laughing One. "What's wrong with you?"
[16:54] <Broose> He wipes at his forehead. "The, uh, sun... doesn't agree with me... I should like to leave soon."
[16:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gets really close to him, tears off a large portion of her dress, and stuffs it into his mouth. "Quiet, sorcerer."
[16:55] <Broose> The poor Laughing One doesn't struggle.
[16:56] <Broose> Your dress is all kinds of fucked up by now, Kestrel. If only you had some new clothes.
[16:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Like... a sleeve or something. The dress is ruined, anyway.
[16:56] <joo> Oliver ignores the conversation, laughing while dancing with Cor Cy Ael to Norman's music.
[16:56] <October> i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/711/269/fd4.gif
[16:59] <Broose> Skype got confused about who was hosting the call and crashed for me.
[16:59] <Broose> Is there a call currently going?
[17:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, I'll just have to get some new clothes when we get back to town.
[17:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Sendoa, shall we go back to Badian now? Your quarry seems to have some problems with the sun, and I don't wish for him to die before we get there." She purses her lips. "Perhaps on the way back, you can tell me of something called Amai. I heard some bandits talking about it earlier. Is it a place?"
[17:05] <October> Norman will continue to play until the song is finished, chuckling at the dancing elf some.
[17:05] <Broose> Sendoa nods. "We can leave any time." He stands up. "Amai is a town in the mountains to the south. It's where a lot of the bandits come from, lately, I hear."
[17:06] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will nod. "We should make haste then."
[17:07] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael stretches, the celebratory dance complete. He will then pull his scythe free from the ground and will return to his neutral face and poised stance. Prepared to strike at any moment.
[17:07] <joo> Is Luthor down here in the tomb?
[17:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> As they walk along, she says, "We released some of the bandits and told them to go back to their former lives." She leans in and whispers to Sendoa, "Cor Cy Ael would have slaughtered them otherwise." She looks around for a moment, and then continues speaking. "They said something to the effect of 'maybe Amai isn't so bad now.' What happened there?"
[17:08] <Broose> Luthor's outside, with everyone else.
[17:08] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will have of course put Oliver down.
[17:09] <joo> Good.
[17:09] <Broose> Sendoa shrugs. "I haven't heard much. We don't get too many travellers from the mountain villages. But they've fallen upon hard times, I should think. Many places have."
[17:09] <Vaylon Kenadell> How much do I estimate these furs are worth?
[17:09] <Vaylon Kenadell> You already said. Never mind.
[17:09] <Broose> "Of course, with the Laughing One in our possession, maybe things will get better."
[17:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Perhaps, perhaps -- though I believe if there were something else for them to do, some other way of making more money, they wouldn't become bandits to begin with."
[17:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Why, if I may ask, have so many places fallen upon hard times?"
[17:14] <Broose> "It all started with the Laughing One. When he appeared a few years ago, his band grew unusually quickly." Sendoa glares back at your prisoner. "No doubt, now that we've seen what he's capable of, it was thanks to his sorcery." He looks forward again as you walk. "It is a harsh cycle. They take all the wealth coming out of Damerus. The villages lose their silver. So their only choice is to join." He shakes his head, bitter. "And in this past year it has become worse because Damerus is witholding their troops, out of fear of Othnea."
[17:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Hmm, yes. I'm curious about his sorcery. Those beings in the cavern, his chanting... the stick I found. Where does all that come from?"
[17:20] <joo> Oliver listens with concern.
[17:20] <Broose> Sendoa shrugs. "I'm not sure where he learned. Perhaps he studied in Damerus. Though they usually have higher standards."
[17:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Are there sorcerers in Damerus?"
[17:22] <Broose> Sendoa nods. "Yes. They are well-respected by many. They are not often used in war, however, as I've heard they are in Othnea."
[17:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Is Othnea threatening war with Damerus?"
[17:25] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will listen intently.
[17:25] <Broose> Sendoa nods gravely. "Indeed. They've had their eyes on our lands for some time. They want Irla, to forge their new empire." He looks back at all of you. "This is why my people are sometimes mistrusting of outsiders."
[17:27] <October> Norman hangs back as they walk along, sighing softly at the mention of bandits.
[17:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> She leans in close to Sendoa, looking up at him under her eyelashes. "I hope you will trust us more now that we've performed this service for you."
[17:28] <joo> i.imgur.com/2EVwKVm.gif
[17:29] <Broose> Sendoa nods. "Yes, outsider. You have earned my trust, at least. And the king will hear about your deeds, once I arrive in Damerus."
[17:30] <Vaylon Kenadell> "The king, really? That's good news! I'll have to find better clothing, however, if we're expected to be in his audience." She smiles apologetically.
[17:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> If no one else has anything to say, perhaps we can just arrive at Badian, then.
[17:32] <joo> Oliver does ask Cor Cy Ael and Luthor one thing:
[17:32] <joo> "What of this Paladin you are hunting? Where do you think he might be, now?"
[17:33] <Broose> Luthor shrugs. "The trail has gone cold. I will stay in Badian, for now, to see if I hear more of him."
[17:33] <Broose> "No doubt he'll make himself known soon enough, now that the Laughing One has been defeated."
[17:33] <joo> Oliver rubs his chin. "Hmm... yes, I suppose he will."
[17:34] <Arcadum> "Aladine has given me a divine edict to stay with all of you Shakel-kai. My vengeance will be sated when his will is done." Cor Cy Ael says.
[17:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> "A ration is the amount of supplies used up in a day."
[17:37] <Broose> Does anyone have anything else to say?
[17:37] <Arcadum> (Im good)
[17:38] <joo> Oliver scratches his head. "That doesn't sound like the Aladine I know, but if you say so!"
[17:40] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will happily provide his rations for the trip. They consist of blacked sweet bread, meat from the Valcikai raptors, formed into a kind of jerky and the meal is completed with pure water from Alcore.
[17:41] <Arcadum> (blackened*)
[17:41] <Broose> As you approach Badian, you happen upon another group.
[17:42] <Broose> It's Nahia, Sendoa's wife, with several townspeople.
[17:42] <Broose> Nahia is wearing leather armor and carries a spear. The other townspeople are similarly armed, but some with bows.
[17:42] <Broose> Nahia's eyes go wide. "Sendoa! Outsiders! What happened out there?"
[17:46] <Broose> Sendoa nods in greeting. "My wife. These outsiders rescued me."
[17:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Why is everyone armed?"
[17:49] <joo> Oliver steps forward and nods. "We found him in a tomb with the Laughing One, under some spell. None of his soldiers could be found."
[17:50] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will smile his scythe sinister and massive beside him.
[17:50] <Broose> Nahia looks to you, Kestrel, with a grateful smile. "We came to get Sendoa out of there."
[17:50] <Broose> Nahia nods to Oliver. "Yes, he let the rest of them go."
[17:51] <Broose> "The Laughing One, that is."
[17:51] <October> Norman smiles a bit toward Nahia and then Sendoa in turn, "You have quite a wife there!" He pipes up to the man.
[17:51] <Broose> Nahia looks at your prisoner. "Is that him, then?"
[17:51] <Arcadum> "The Sska responsible now reside with aldine Von Sha'Kel Kai."
[17:51] <Arcadum> "Yes."
[17:52] <Broose> Nahia laughs at your comment, Norman. "Thank you, outsider."
[17:55] <Broose> Nahia glares at the Laughing One, and then looks back to Badian. "We should head home."
[17:56] <Arcadum> (Aladine)
[17:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> Looks back to Badian?
[17:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> And I'm drunk, dude.
[17:57] <Broose> Yes. You see it in the distance.
[17:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, wait.
[17:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> I thought you meant that she looks at Sendoa.
[17:58] <Arcadum> "Come Sha'Kel Kai let us return and celebrate your safety Sendoa!"
[17:58] <Arcadum> "Let us drink together as one!"
[17:59] <Arcadum> Picks up Oliver and places him on his shoulders!
[17:59] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "I agree. Let us celebrate our good fortune! Play us a song, Norman, for our triumphant return."
[17:59] <joo> Oliver sways, grabbing Arcadum's head to steady himself.
[18:00] <joo> *Cor Cy Ael's head
[18:00] <Broose> Arcadum has broken through the 4th wall!
[18:00] <October> Norman grins and plays once more an even more jovial tune than the last time!
[18:01] <Broose> Okay. You all head to Badian. It doesn't take long, now.
[18:01] <Broose> When you get back, the townspeople seem surprised to see Nahia and Sendoa back so soon.
[18:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> Great. Kestrel says, when they get there, "Let us celebrate at Bakar's inn -- the Dead Men will trouble this land no more!"
[18:02] <Broose> Okay, you can carouse in Badian if you'd like.
[18:02] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will look somewhat out of place being an elf, covered in dark armor, smiling while carrying a halflig on his shoulders and a murder scythe in his other hand!
[18:02] <October> Hell yeah! Partaaaaay!
[18:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel is willing to donate 200 coins. What about others?
[18:02] <Arcadum> (halfling*)
[18:02] <joo> Wendy lands on Oliver's shoulder, and hoots.
[18:02] <Broose> You're a strange group, but the townspeople cheer as they hear about your success.
[18:02] <October> Norman will donate all the coins. For booze only.
[18:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives 200 coins to Cor Cy Ael.
[18:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Here is your share," she says with a smile.
[18:03] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will nod and donate 100 to the carouse!
[18:03] <Broose> Alright, that's a +3 to carouse, I think.
[18:04] <Broose> If that's all you'd like to spend, someone make the roll.
[18:05] <joo> Oliver also donates 100 coins!
[18:05] <Broose> Okay. The roll is 2d6+4, then.
[18:05] <October> !roll 2d6+4 PARTAAAAAYYY BIATCHES. TURNT UP. GET CRUNK.
[18:05] <@pagebot> October: 12=4+4(+4) PARTAAAAAYYY BIATCHES. TURNT UP. GET CRUNK.
[18:06] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel drinks with Norman -- she drinks wine only, if it is available.
[18:06] <Broose> Choose three from the list, Norman.
[18:06] <Vaylon Kenadell> Or perhaps liquor. Beer is for plebs.
[18:06] <joo> Wendy flies away when Oliver goes indoors.
[18:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> What sort of alcohols are available at this party of ours?
[18:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> Does the whole town turn out to celebrate?
[18:08] <October> You are not entangled, ensorcelled, or tricked, you hear rumors of an opportunity. and you befriend a useful NPC.
[18:08] <October> That what I pick.
[18:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh -- are the two bandits Kestrel hired present at Bakar's inn?
[18:09] <October> Norman will drink himself under the table, playing music and dancing and singing all the while.
[18:09] <joo> Oliver will drink until he falls asleep in his chair.
[18:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> Does Oliver drink much? Or, rather, does he get many opportunites to drink?
[18:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> opportunities*
[18:11] <Broose> Kestrel, Bakar brings out the expensive wines for your party, along with the usual ales he serves. He seems very happy that you've come back successful.
[18:11] <Broose> Sendoa and Nahia aren't present at the party. They're probably dealing with the Laughing One. Plenty of people around town come to the tavern, though.
[18:11] <Broose> Cyrus is missing from his usual spot in the corner.
[18:13] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will drink some water from the Inn and spit it out complaining about it being tainted. He will sit atop the Inn in a silent vigil. Let the Sha'Kel Kai have there fun and enjoy their short lives. He will watch over the party and his comrades. Death can come at any moment. He must uphold Aladine's will.
[18:13] <Broose> Kemen and Mattin were already drinking when you arrived in town. They aren't as cheerful about the Laughing One's defeat, but they -are- pretty happy about all the alcohol.
[18:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, they'd better be fucking happy about working for me, Kestrel Tod, the greatest thief who ever lived (someday).
[18:16] <Broose> You gave them money for doing nothing, so they're pretty happy about that so far.
[18:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> GOod.
[18:17] <Broose> Bakar looks to you, Norman. "Good to see you again, boy! Bringing me more silver again, I see!"
[18:17] <Broose> Meanwhile, your partying catches someone's eye.
[18:18] <Broose> An elf dressed in some expensive clothing sits down at your table, Kestrel.
[18:18] <Broose> Everyone sees this.
[18:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hmm.
[18:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Am I sitting? Presumably I am.
[18:19] <Arcadum> (Do I see the elf approach?)
[18:19] <joo> Oliver has not drunk much before.
[18:19] <Broose> "Greetings, friend. Seems you and your friends are causing quite a stir around here!"
[18:19] <Arcadum> (I am currently batmanning on the inn)
[18:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel greets the elf, getting to her feet, and she bows. "Good evening, friend."
[18:19] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael, yes.
[18:19] <October> Norman laughs to Bakar, downing another mug of ale, nearly spilling most of it on his chest and chin. "Any time!" He answers after a gulp.
[18:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> She laughs quaintly. "Yes, we tend to do that. How do you do? I am Kestrel Tod. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
[18:20] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael spotting one of his kins men will drop down and follow them inside.
[18:20] <Broose> "I am Escatair, a merchant from Damerus."
[18:22] <Broose> Oliver, the townspeople don't see your kind much around here. The drunk ones seem amused by your shortness.
[18:22] <Broose> Thankfully nobody tries to throw you around for their entertainment.
[18:22] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Well, Escatair, how are things going in Damerus?"
[18:24] <Broose> "Very well, my lady, as they often are. I'm here searching for wares for my shop."
[18:25] <Broose> He smiles slyly at you, Kestrel. "Some people might pay a good sum for the infamous Laughing One's former possessions."
[18:25] <joo> Oliver comes awake, and stares at Escatair.
[18:26] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will approach the table. "Vass'Ka Shar'kai!" He will give the traditional greetings of the elves and will sit down at the table.
[18:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Who would be willing to buy these things, I wonder, and how much would they pay, and what, precisely, would they be willing to buy?"
[18:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> She takes a sip of her wine, staring evenly at Escatair."
[18:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> *-"
[18:27] <October> Norman wanders off to entertain more folk, giving no heed to the man speaking to Kestrel. He is here to party and party he must! His people need him!
[18:28] <Broose> Escatair nods politely to Cor Cy Ael. "Vass'Ka, Shar'kai. I do not see much of my kin out here."
[18:28] <Broose> He looks back at Kestrel. "That would depend on what you have, my lady. Perhaps you'd like to show me?"
[18:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> She sip from the wine again, setting her glass down and chuckles. "First tell me what you're interested in."
[18:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> *chuckling
[18:29] <Broose> The people are glad to party with you, Norman. Do you play your fiddle?
[18:30] <Arcadum> "Indeed Sha'Kai, these Sha'Kel Kai are currently in my charge."
[18:31] <Vaylon Kenadell> *sips
[18:32] <Broose> Escatair rubs at his chin, taking a sip of his drink. "Hmm. Any... books? Strange little trinkets? Things that he kept close."
[18:35] <Broose> He looks to you, Cor Cy Ael. "I should mention... I was not raised in Eldasharkai. I don't know the language well."
[18:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Books?" Kestrel seems confused. "Trinkets? Hmm." She looks down at her lap in thought. "Perhaps I should have searched the Laughing One better."
[18:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> She gets to her feet suddenly, swaying slightly before she puts her hands on the table.
[18:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I shall return momentarily, Escatair."
[18:37] <Vaylon Kenadell> Do I know where the Laughing One is being held? Or, is Sendoa in this inn?
[18:37] <Broose> Escatair raises his hand. "Ah, please, stay, my lady."
[18:37] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will frown slightly he will then choose to stick to the common tongue. "Very well then. You were born in which Sha'Kel Kai city?"
[18:37] <Broose> Sendoa isn't at the inn. You aren't sure where he's being held.
[18:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> She glances down at Escatair. "You seem to know an awful lot about the Laughing One. How do you know these things? And what is he?" She pauses. "I know he isn't ... normal. He is sorcerous."
[18:39] <Broose> "I was born in Oslon, a border city in Othnea. My parents were gate merchants who moved there when my mother fell pregnant."
[18:40] <Broose> Escatair wrinkles his nose slightly, Kestrel. "Ah. Yes. A sorceror." He nods. "Yes, that's why I'm interested in his possessions." He says, with a quiet sigh.
[18:41] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will nod with understanding. He too might have shared the same fate after all.
[18:44] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel, obviously wracked with uncertainty, reluctantly drift back into her seat. "If he is a sorcerer, I must make sure he cannot escape."
[18:46] <Broose> Escatair raises a hand dismissively. "Ah, I'm sure it'll be taken care of." He pauses for a moment, thinking. "Listen. Just show me anything you found of his, and we can work out a deal."
[18:46] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael ponders how old this Shar'Kai is. After all if he was not indoctrinated through Fi'is Sithrean, nor would he live next to the waters of Eldasharkai.
[18:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel removes from her backpack the Laughing One's tunic, dagger, and wand, and she shows them to Escatair. "These I found with the Laughing One. Give me an offer, but tell me first -- honestly -- why you are so interested in them, and I may consider selling them to you."
[18:48] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael, you feel like he's around your age. This isn't unheard of for ash elves outside Eldasharkai, however -- the wealthy ones will pay good money for imported water.
[18:50] <Broose> Escatair looks over the items you've set out. After a moment, he pushes away the dagger. He sighs again. "I deal in magical items. Usually I deal with adventurers who don't know any better."
[18:50] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael strokes his chin. "Allow me to introduce myself Shar-kai, My name is Cor Cy Ael." He will give another elvish gesture of greeting but he will change it slightly, changing it from the meaning of greeting to the meaning of its raining. He will study Escatair carefully.
[18:51] <Vaylon Kenadell> I've been sitting at this table for a while, and I've gotten a chance to observe and study Escatair for that long.
[18:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> I want to know what I can discern about this person.
[18:52] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael, he doesn't notice that the gesture is incorrect.
[18:52] <Arcadum> Does he return it?
[18:52] <Broose> Yes, he does. "Well met, Cor Cy Ael."
[18:53] <Broose> You can discern realities, Kestrel.
[18:53] <Vaylon Kenadell> !r 2d6 Discern Realities
[18:53] <@pagebot> Vaylon: 3=1+2 Discern Realities
[18:53] <Broose> You can't discern realities, Kestrel.
[18:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> She chuckles softly. "You say 'adventurers who don't know any better,' but I do. If it's valuable enough for you to want it, it's valuable enough for me to keep it, and so I shall. If you want it..."
[18:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> She leans down over the table, sipping on her wine, "... take it from me."
[18:56] <Broose> Escatair grumbles. "Maybe we can still work out a deal. You don't know what these things do, correct?"
[18:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I will soon. I have eyes and ears."
[18:56] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will watch the situation carefully. He is suspicious of an a Shar'Kai who doesnt even know his basic greeting.
[18:58] <Arcadum> He is also suspicious that the Shar'Kai doesnt even recognize his title and the respect it requires. Either his parents were self hating, ignorant or he is...a deciever.
[18:58] <Broose> He furrows his brow. "Very well, my lady, if you're so confident. I should let you know that I offer excellent rates for magical identification."
[19:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Magical identification? How can I possibly trust what you say when you obviously have a vested interest in some of the things I carry?"
[19:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I need some reassurance that I can trust you."
[19:03] <Broose> "I assure you that I only have an interest in your silver, my lady."
[19:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel brings out the wooden stick and places it on the table. "Very well. Here's a test for you. What does this do? I'll pay you for the answer. If I find it acceptable, then I'll let you look over the rest of my belongings such as I feel fit."
[19:05] <Broose> Escatair nods, picking up the wand gingerly. "Give me some time and I will tell you."
[19:05] <Arcadum> Cor Cy Ael will watch the exchange carefully.
[19:15] <Broose> Norman, while you're playing your fiddle you hear some people talking under the noise at the counter.
[19:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel waits patiently.
[19:16] <Broose> It seems they're travellers from Damerus. They mention that the king is looking for adventurers to deal with some trouble Amai is having with the mountain tribes.
[19:16] <joo> Oliver is listening to Kestrel's conversation, and watching Escatair carefully.
[19:18] <Broose> After some time, Escatair sets the wand back down. "It shoots a spark of energy. A simple spell."
[19:18] <Broose> "Are you satisfied, then?"
[19:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel stares at Escatair for a while, evaluating him as best she can (though finding nothing). "I suppose. You pushed away the dagger earlier. Is it nothing?"
[19:19] <Broose> "It's not magical." He replies.

[19:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> She brings out the tunic, the ornate dagger, and the furs. "And these?"
[19:21] <Broose> He points at the tunic. "That's all." He frowns. "Now, can we make a deal?"
[19:22] <Broose> He looks at you, too, Oliver. "You've got something on you too."
[19:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel has a wry smile on her face. "And what, pray tell, is mysterious about this tunic?"
[19:28] <joo> Oliver raises his eyebrows, and he takes out the bundle of arrows. "Is it this?"
[19:31] <Broose> Escatair nods at you, Oliver. "Yes, indeed." He looks again at Kestrel. "It is magical." He look at the both of you. "Twenty coins for every item I identify."
[19:32] <Broose> He glances back at Norman. "Maybe you should bring your friend over here, too."
[19:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> She nods. "Sure, sure. Tell me what it is, and I'll make it worth your while."
[19:32] <joo> Oliver chuckles. "I had no idea."
[19:32] <joo> "I cannot pay that, thought."
[19:32] <joo> *though
[19:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I will pay for my friend Oliver's items."
[19:35] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel grabs Norman, dragging him over -- no matter how drunk he is. "And him, too."
[19:35] <joo> "Oh, thank you."
[19:36] <Broose> EScatair looks Norman over. "That sack -- put it on the table."
[19:36] <October> Norman grunts as he's dragged along, giving a nearly boyish pout. "Whaaaaaat?" He whines at her.
[19:40] <October> Frowning at the man, he raises an eyebrow and sneers a bit, "Why's that, eh?" He's speaking in a rather rude tone, surprisingly.
[19:41] <joo> Oliver looks at Norman.
[19:42] <Broose> Escatair sighs, leaning back in his seat. "I'm helping your friends identify these magical items. For a steal, I should note."
[19:42] <Broose> "And that sack is clearly magical."
[19:42] <October> He glances to Kestrel in a questioning manner.
[19:43] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Just do what he says, Norman."
[19:44] <October> Grunting again, he takes the thing off and tosses it at the elf, nearly missing the man's face.
[19:45] <Broose> Escatair catches the sack and sets it down on the table, grumbling.
[19:45] <Broose> "Alright. Give me some time and have your silver ready."
[19:45] <October> Norman grumbles and tries to get away from all this to go back to playing.
[19:46] <Broose> It'll take a few hours for him to finish.
[19:46] <Broose> Do you do anything else during this time? The party is still going strong.
[19:47] <October> Norman is doing exactly what I said prior. What else do you expect?
[19:47] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel asks if there's anything magical in her possesion that he detects.
[19:48] <Broose> He shakes his head. "No, I think we've got everything." He says, as he examines the items.
[19:49] <joo> Oliver doesn't do anything in particular.
[19:49] <Broose> A few hours pass. It's late in the afternoon now.
[19:50] <Broose> Escatair puts the items back on the table once he's satisfied. "Now..." He begins.
[19:51] <Broose> "These arrows." He says, picking them up. "They will fire at any target the bowman can see, regardless of distance. They are only limited by the bowman's skills."
[19:52] <Broose> "The tunic..." He begins, setting down the arrows. "Once you put it on, it will turn into any mundane outfit of clothing you desire."
[19:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "... How resistant is this tunic to fire?"
[19:52] <joo> "Oooh!" Oliver says, picking up one of the arrows and staring at it with renewed interest.
[19:54] <Broose> "And, finally, the sack... when its contents are poured out all at once, they will arrange themselves into neat little piles organized by value, for every person present."
[19:54] <Broose> He shrugs at you, Kestrel. "I wouldn't bet on it being resistant to fire."
[19:56] <joo> Oliver scratches his head.
[20:01] <Broose> He looks to Kestrel expectantly. "Now, my payment, my lady?"
[20:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel hands him 60 silver coins.
[20:05] <Broose> He smiles and takes the coins. "I'm glad we could make a deal, my lady. If you're ever in Damerus, you should pay a visit to my shop."
[20:17] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "You have a shop? And what is its name, sir?"
[20:20] <Broose> "Escatair's Fine Magical Goods. In the market district, not the mage's district."
[20:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "We're on our way soon to Damerus soon. We may visit you there." She scoffs. "Though I personally disdain all of this adventuring business."
[20:29] <Broose> He chuckles. "It seems to have served you all well."
[20:30] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Perhaps, but one can't maintain one's standard of beauty while traipsing about in the wilderness." She sighs bitterly.
[20:34] <Broose> "A bit of luck, and you can afford to buy a mansion and never have to step outside again." He says, with a smile. "And you lot seem more clever than most I do business with."
[20:35] <joo> Oliver stuffs half of the enchanted arrows into his quiver, leaving the other half as mundane arrows, and leaves the remaining 2 mundane arrow units in a bundle.
[20:40] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel scoffs. "I don't want to do this for the rest of my life, or even for the next month. I'm not meant for this."
[20:41] <joo> Oliver leans forward to Kestrel with his chin cupped in clasped hands. "What would you rather be doing?"
[20:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "I'd rather not say in public, my friend."
[20:42] <Broose> "I disagree. You just took down the Laughing One. Keep doing this, and you could all be rich." He says, then adds: "And my purse wouldn't be lacking either, should you decide to continue using my services."
[20:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> She winks. "Perhaps later, in private."
[20:42] <joo> Oliver tilts his head. "Okay. Sorry to intrude!"
[20:45] <Vaylon Kenadell> "And what might we do after taking down the Laughing One?"
[20:48] <Broose> "This is a land of chaos and opportunity. Soon, it will be filled with war. You'll find wealth someplace, trust me."
[20:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Do you mean between Othnea and this entire island?"
[20:52] <joo> Oliver looks worried.
[20:53] <Broose> "Othnea will start here, with Damerus. With that foothold, they'll take Ardmor to the east and Uzad to the west -- Damerus' rival states." Escatair explains.
[20:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel taps her chin. "And you say there might be money to be made in this chaos? You're speaking my language now, Escatair -- though you doubtless guessed that by now."
[20:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Do you know where I might find maps of this realm?"
[20:57] <Broose> "Damerus would doubtless have many for sale. I don't know about here -- these little townspeople, they care about the place they live and little else."
[21:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel clears her throat and says, "Do you know, Escatair, anything about a place called Amai? What is the trouble there?"
[21:05] <Broose> He shrugs. "Some people seem to think it's the mountain tribes raiding again. I'm not sure. It could be anything, down there in the middle of nowhere."
[21:08] <joo> "The mountain tribes?" Oliver asks. "What are they like?"
[21:12] <Broose> "A simple people. They've lived in the southern mountains for centuries." He rubs at his chin. "They don't work magic, and they have little skill with metals. They're peaceful, usually, with the settlements down there, but every once in awhile you hear something like this."
[21:12] <Broose> "But who knows if there's any truth to it."
[21:13] <joo> "That sounds like a peaceful life. Why are they raiding?"
[21:15] <Broose> "Food, I'd imagine. The civilized people down south have farms in the valleys."
[21:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Is food hard to come by in that region? I once overheard some talking about how difficult things were in Amai."
[21:17] <Broose> He shrugs. "I don't go that far south, but I guess so."
[21:18] <October> Norman laughs loudly in the background, totally dumping a drink down the front of himself as he flirts with someone.
[21:19] <joo> Oliver twists a strand of his hair thoughtfully. "An unfortunate situation."
[21:19] <joo> Is there any music playing in the inn?!
[21:20] <Broose> Norman the bard is too busy being drunk as hell to play, apparently.
[21:23] <joo> Oliver stands up from his chair, sways violently, then sits down again.
[21:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gets to her feet. "Excuse me friend, but I have some business I must see to. Escatair, I hope that we shall see one another again. I'm sorry I cannnot sell you anything of the Laughing One's -- but give me time, and perhaps I will come around.
[21:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> around."
[21:24] <Broose> Escatair waves a hand. "Ah, it's fine, my lady, as long as I get your silver."
[21:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> With that, she bows and takes her leave of the elven merchant. She walks over to Mattin and Kemen.
[21:24] <Broose> Mattin and Kemen are nearly passed out at their table.
[21:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Well." She sits down and looks them both over, obviously able to hold far more liquor than both of them. "I see you have stayed. Decided to take me up on my offer are you?" They're drunk? So much the better.
[21:25] <joo> Oliver stands up again more carefully, and steps out outside to look up at the sky.
[21:25] <Broose> The sky is blue, Oliver.
[21:26] <joo> What time is it now?
[21:26] <Broose> It's the middle of the evening, by now.
[21:27] <Broose> Mattin nods to you, Kestrel, and shrugs. "Silver is silver."
[21:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Indeed it is, my good friends, and there's a lot more of it in store for both of you if you keep your eyes and ears open for me," she says, leaning in conspiratorially.
[21:29] <Broose> Kemen leans back in his seat, interested but obviously drunk.
[21:29] <Broose> "What do you mean?" Mattin asks.
[21:30] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel steeples her fingers and sucks in a breath through her teeth. "Well..."
[21:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> She says, "I want you to gather useful information for me. Whether that is rumors of opportunities or tracking down people or things. Can the both of you do that? I will pay you solely to be my eyes and ears."
[21:41] <Broose> Mattin and Kemen look at eachother, and then back at you. "We can do it," Mattin says. "But you'll have to tell us what it is you want us to look for."
[21:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Oh, well, you know --" she waves a hand vaguely, then looks around to see if anyone is listening in on their conversation. Is anyone?
[21:42] <Broose> Everyone is too busy drinking and partying to be listening.
[21:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> She taps her chin. "Well -- I am an assassin. A very good one. Mattin, you've seen this." She casts a dark glance at him. "If anyone important needs killing, and they are willing to pay a high price, I am all ears. Or, if you hear of anything of high value that can be stolen call upon me." She frowns. "I may also call upon you two to help me locate people or things, if necessary. You need
[21:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> not do more than talk and listen to people and keep your eyes and ears open. I will pay you for that much. Are you willing to work for me, or are you not?"
[21:47] <Broose> Kemen gives you a strange look. Mattin seems to consider your words for awhile. "Sounds like a good deal to me." He says. Kemen nods, eventually.
[21:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel leans over the table, caressing Mattin's face. "I think you'll find that I'm a pleasure to work for compared to the Laughing One."
[21:51] <Broose> Mattin raises an eyebrow. "I'm sure. What will we be paid for this?"
[21:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives a wry grin. "How much do you think you're worth?"
[21:58] <Broose> He leans back in his chair, thinking. "We'll need enough for food and board in this town, and I expect a nice pay if I'm getting involved in that sort of business..." He pauses. "Thirty coins a month, each. Seems reasonable for now."
[21:59] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel sits back in her chair as well, staring hard at Mattin. "Well. You obviously think highly of yourself and your services." She taps her finger on her chin once again.
[22:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> "All right," she says, leaning forward and sighing. "You drive a hard bargain, but there's no one else in this town I can trust with this task, hmm? Thirty coins it is. I might move on to the capital city. Look for me there." She grins. "Oh, they'll know me."
[22:03] <Vaylon Kenadell> She gets out some coins from her pack and gives thirty to both Kemen and Mattin.
[22:04] <Broose> Mattin nods. "We'll find you." The former bandits both take their pay gladly.
[22:06] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives each of them a gold coin and five silver coins, since she paid Escacargot earlier with 60 silver coins.
[22:06] <joo> Oliver yawns, then goes back into the inn and falls asleep at a table.
[22:07] <Broose> Where's Wendy?
[22:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> What time of day is it?
[22:07] <Broose> It's getting to be later in the evening, now.
[22:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> Are there still shops in the town open?
[22:08] <Broose> Yes, a few shops are still open.
[22:08] <Broose> Bakar says to you, Oliver: "We can get you a room, if you'd like!"
[22:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> Which shops? Some clothing shops, perhaps? Perhaps the one that served me earlier? And some fabric/tailoring shops?
[22:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> I wish to purchase a sewing kit, if at all possible.
12[22:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> It's time, Broose.
[22:11] <joo> Wendy is sleeping in a nearby forest.
[22:12] <joo> Oliver looks up at Bakar confusedly for a while. "Ah. I might like to try it, but I haven't the coin for it."
[22:13] <Broose> He waves you towards the stairs. "Nonsense! After all the silver you've thrown my way, you can take it for free." He says, grinning through his grey beard. "Last door on the left."
[22:13] <joo> "Ah," Oliver says. "Thanks!"
[22:14] <Broose> You can purchase a sewing kit, Kestrel, for five silver coins. You find one for sale at the same clothing shop you went to before.
[22:14] <Broose> The man behind the counter gasps once he sees the state of your dress. "What happened?!"
[22:16] <joo> Oliver goes to the room and tries the door.
[22:16] <@pagebot> Oliver goes to the room and tries the bum.
[22:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel sighs and says, "I had an unfortunate mishap with a campfire."
[22:16] <Broose> "You went out camping in that?" He seems puzzled.
[22:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> She gives a tiny little shrug which seems to say, "Haha, women. We're helpless at these types of things!"
[22:17] <Broose> Oliver, the door is unlocked.
[22:17] <joo> Oliver opens it and walks in, examining the room carefully.
[22:19] <Broose> There's a bed, a nightstand, an empty dresser, and a chamber pot in here, Oliver.
[22:19] <Broose> There's also a small window above the bed.
[22:19] <Broose> The man behind the counter nods slowly at you, Kestrel. "Well... I imagine you'd like to buy a new dress?"
[22:19] <joo> Oliver stands up on the bed and opens the window, looking out of the window.
[22:20] <October> Norman will not retire but pass out at a table soundly.
[22:20] <joo> If Oliver can't reach, he stacks items until he can.
[22:20] <joo> Such as the upside-down chamber pot.
[22:20] <joo> Maybe that would be unhygeinic... he should rather use a chair.
[22:21] <Broose> You have to stack the chamber pot onto the bed to see, Oliver, but you get a nice view of Badian in the middle of night.
[22:21] <Broose> The window faces towards the docks, and you see the water bathed in moonlight.
[22:23] <joo> Oliver leaves the window wide open, then lies down on the bed (removing the pot first). After a while, he shivers and slides in between the sheets.
[22:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel nods and says, "Yes, indeed. A new dress. A few new dresses, in fact, for a number of occasions." She smiles apologetically, walking slowly up to the shopkeeper, leaning down onto the counter, propping herself up on her elbows, staring up at him, fluttering her eyelashes. "A girl likes to be prepared for all things, you know."
[22:24] <Broose> As you drift to sleep, Oliver, you hear the bard downstairs yawning into the table, and a few people still drinking.
[22:25] <Broose> The shopkeeper seems a little nervous, Kestrel. You look kind of insane.
[22:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says to the shopkeeper, "I'd like several bolts of cloth decorated with flowers as well as a sewing kit and two dresses: an everyday wear and a formal dress."
[22:31] <Broose> He thinks for a time, Kestrel. "That will come out to about twenty coins."
[22:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> She produces a gold coin and leans on the counter. "This'll be yours if you can forget I was here."
[22:33] <Vaylon Kenadell> Is this the same shopkeeper who sold me my dress originally?
[22:33] <Broose> His eyes widen, and he nods quickly. "Ah, yes, that's fine." He starts to gather up the things you asked for.
[22:33] <Broose> Yes, it is.
[22:34] <Vaylon Kenadell> Good, good. Kestrel asks him his name.
[22:34] <Broose> He says his name is Danel. He puts your dresses and the sewing kit on the counter.
[22:36] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael stares at Norman while he sleeps.
[22:37] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel takes the dresses and the sewing kit and produces a gold coin, which she places on the counter. "I may come again sometime, Danel. And you may come, too, if you're lucky." With that, she disappears.
[22:39] <Broose> The shopkeeper gives you a strange look as you leave, but he seems pleased with the gold.
[22:40] <Broose> Alright, what do you do now? All your fellow party members are asleep, except for Cor Cy Ael.
[22:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> I suppose I'll go to sleep in my room.
[22:41] <Broose> Alright.
[22:41] <Broose> You all wake up (or maybe not) the next morning.
[22:42] <Broose> Bakar wakes you up, Norman.
[22:43] <Broose> The sun shines through your window, Oliver.
[22:43] <Broose> What do you do?
[22:44] <October> Norman sits up with a jolt, uttering a cry in the back of his throat and then groans. He quickly, a little bit too quickly, puts his head back down onto the table, hitting his forehead and groaning again.
[22:47] <joo> Oliver gets up, and starts tossing around frantically under his covers, before realising where he is.
[22:49] <joo> Oliver goes to find Bakar.
[22:50] <Broose> Bakar's awake and behind the counter. Poor old man probably barely sleeps.
[22:50] <joo> "Good morning, Bakar!" Oliver says, standing up on a stool to talk to him.
[22:50] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel throws that old dress away, burning it once again. She puts on her newest everyday wear. I am assuming her sewing kit and formalwear weigh nothing -- or am I wrong?
[22:50] <Broose> They don't weigh anything.
[22:50] <joo> "Do you know what room Kestrel is in?"
[22:51] <Broose> "First on the right," Bakar says, as he washes a glass.
[22:53] <joo> Oliver knocks on Kestrel's door.
[22:54] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel opens the door, dressed in her newest everyday wear and her backpack. She smiles at Oliver. "Good morning! How are you?"
[22:55] <joo> "I am well, thank you! How are you?"
[22:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> She bows. "Fine, fine, though I thought perhaps we could all eat breakfast together and discuss the day's plans."
[22:58] <joo> Oliver nods. "Let's."
[22:59] <Broose> Cor Cy Ael and Norman are already sitting down.
[23:01] <joo> Oliver goes (presumably with Kestrel) to join them.
[23:02] <joo> Over breakfast, he suggests that they go to see Sendoa to ask about travelling to Damarus to see the king.
[23:02] <Broose> Bakar serves you all some fish for breakfast.
[23:02] <joo> What kind of fish?
[23:02] <Broose> You tell me, you're the one eating it.
[23:03] <joo> Fried tuna steaks.
[23:04] <joo> Or fillets, I suppose.
[23:07] <Vaylon Kenadell> Is there rice in this land?
[23:08] <Broose> Not that you've seen, Kestrel.
[23:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> If so, Kestrel has her filet over rice.
[23:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, fuck all y'all!
[23:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> What kind of grains are there?
[23:11] <Broose> Let's find out the mystery of the grains in the next session. This seems like an okay place to stop.
[23:12] <Broose> !missed-rolls
[23:12] <@pagebot> Missed rolls (estimated): Vaylon: 2 of 3, October: 0 of 1. Full list: <http://pastebin.com/j1FqzgDD>.
[23:13] <Broose> Kestrel gets another point of XP from the missed roll.
[23:14] <Broose> Did we learn something new and important about the world?
[23:14] <Broose> Yes, definitely.
[23:14] <Broose> Did we overcome a notable monster or enemy?
[23:14] <Broose> Nope.
[23:14] <Broose> Did we loot a memorable treasure?
[23:14] <Broose> Yes, plenty of loot.
[23:15] <Broose> Everyone marks two session XP.
[23:15] <Broose> I don't think anyone earned alignment XP.
