Irlan Settlements
Amai | A village in the Southern Passage, four days south of Damerus, whence many bandits came. Rumor was that village has fallen on hard times because mountain tribes are raiding the farms in the valleys. The village is a collection of old stone houses and farms and was deserted when the PCs arrived. |
Badian | A prosperous port town east of Damerus. Fish is a common resource here. The Fisher's Road runs from Badian to Damerus. |
Damerus | The capital city of Damerus. Out of fear of invasion by Othnea, the city is garrisoning its troops, leaving other regions in Damerus to suffer. The city is walled, and at the center of the city is a great spire surrounded by floating stone platforms. |
Distira | A bustling mining town at the north end of the Southern Passage, two days south of Damerus. Damerus's great wealth of gold comes from here. The Golden Road runs from Distira to Damerus. |

Raindura | A town east of Badian situated in the middle of a forest. It has a keep and controls the only bridge across the river. The PCs captured Markas and immediately afterwards fought off an attempt by House Salle to seize Raindura. |

Escatair | A foreign elven merchant who runs Escatair's Fine Magical Goods in Damerus's Market District. He usually deals with "adventurers who don't know any better" and badly wanted to purchase magic items owned by the Laughing One. Kestrel hired him to accompany the PCs. In the Mage's District, Escatair's research focuses on the weakening of barriers between planes. |

She is a scholar of the College of the Thirty-Seven, a place in Damerus where religious texts on the many spirits and deities of Irla are archived and studied, and where useful knowledge is pursued in general. She applied to join the party as a healer due to her good-natured concern over starvation and rioting. |
Itzal Lantza | The ruler of Damerus and the surrounding lands. He's a large but short man who doesn't look as if he could handle himself in a fight; though he appears carefree and lighthearted, in reality he is a skilled manipulator. He is in control of his subjects, but a strong noble opposed to him might be able to bring him down. He hired the PCs to go on a diplomatic mission to the Moon tribe and to Raindura. He is styled "King Itzal Lantza, lord of Damerus, and rightful ruler of the Shield." |

Zaldi | A warrior of the Moon tribe who fights alongside his wolf companion, Hiz. He dislikes the way Chief Otso has handled the grey men and joined the PCs in fighting against them. Later, he challenged the chief to a duel and was slain. |
Dwarves of Drukkna

Risi | Part of Hamar's expedition. She is a dwarf with a crossbow who seemed interested in food. |
Stor | Part of Hamar's expedition. He is a large dwarf with a battleaxe. He seemed fond of cats and of Grimalkin. |

He discovered that the barriers between different planes of existence are weakening, allowing otherworldly beings to slip into the material world. The PCs agreed to help him find the cause. |
Ander | A cowardly bandit captured by Luthor during "Blood for Blood." He went back to Amai with the other bandits who were set free. |
Artames | A grey man whose body ends in writhing tentacles. He is Khaldun's lieutenant and a powerful sorcerer. By murdering thousands of people all at once in the old empire, he created a black gemstone filled with power and used it to spread darkness over Irla. The gemstone was stored in his laboratory in tunnels beneath a ruined tower near Amai. |
Bidane | A priestess of the Wanderer. She blessed the PCs and gave them holy symbols in preparation for their journey into the Shade. |
Bronen | One of Ilun's constructs: a hulking, man-like figure with immense strength. Nikolai took control of the creature as his own servant. |
Cyrus | A foreign, old knight sent to Irla to retrieve Artames' black jewel for the queen of Othnea. Selene claimed that his nickname is "Old Skin and Bones" and that he is an Inquisitor. He was found caged up in the ruined tower near the Moon tribe. The PCs freed him, and he hid himself with the Moon Tribe, waiting for Artames to return so that he could take the black jewel. He failed at this task, however, and when battle reached Amai, hid himself, emerging only when the PCs arrived. He accompanied them into the tunnels in order to track down Artames. |

Afterward, he took the castle of Raindura by surprise in the night and started robbing caravans along the road. After an intense battle with his rebels, he was captured by the PCs and brought to justice by Luthor. |
Markel | A former bloodwarrior of the king of Uzad. He's an experienced fighter armed with chitin armor, a spear, an iron shield, and a shortsword. Kestrel found him in Damerus and hired him as a bodyguard, though he's more interested in fighting than guarding. |

Senna | An unknown person associated with the ruined tower near Amai. The name possibly refers to the malign spirit that inhabits the bronze mask. |
Vasalon Von'kai | A priest of Aladine who travelled to Damerus. He said that the priests of Aladine were travelling throughout the world to prepare it for the Last Harvest: when the world is doomed, Aladine will send her four greatest warriors to end the mortal races. |

Grey Men | The grey men are strange, skinny, grey creatures, some with wings, who are intelligent and deadly. The winged ones carry bronze armor and weapons. There are also sorcerous grey men who have great power, particularly over the minds of others. Evidence points to them being led by Khaldun. |

Moon Tribe | A simple people who have lived in the southern mountains for centuries. They don't work with magic or metals. They are usually peaceful with the villages of the Southern Passage, but every once and a while they raid for food. They have never traded with the villages. They are located at the top of a crag west of Amai and are believed to worship spirits of nature as part of some strange cult. In reality, they worship a goddess known as the Mother, who granted powers to the Moon tribe when it was first formed. |
