-Appearance-
A small girl rough of hair and skin, Grimalkin is visibly a child of the forest. She is quite lean and seemingly agile. Her facial features are sharp and jagged, and her feline eyes boast a piercingly yellow gleam to them.
-Background-
When Grimalkin was a mere city-dweller, a child of four or five, she had an unquenchable desire to explore the world around her. Every nook and cranny her city had to offer her was mapped; every rooftop surmounted and conquered; even the sewers were familiar to her. It was only a matter of time before she perceived the city as a barren wasteland, seeing past all of its rundown homes and crooked towers as if they weren't even there in the first place.
She soon turned her focus beyond the city to the great forest that stretched far beyond the horizon. The trees would often sway back and forth in the wind as if they were beckoning her curiosity, calling out for her to explore what the world had to offer her. She slipped out of the city and was never seen by anyone there ever again.
Grimalkin embraced the great forest as her guardian and friend. It was her school, her playground, and her home. It raised her to be adventurous and inquisitive; taught her to remain vigilant and cautious; forced her to be quick and stealthy; and maintained her drive to survive. Among the many forest dwellers that lived alongside Grimalkin, the black jaguar earned her interest the most. It was among the fastest and most precise: the prefect predator. Before she knew it, she became one of them. She ran with them, hunted with them, and shared her meals with them. She would clean their fur and they hers, and they would even swim together. Her human form was a bore, much like the city it came from. Her animal form, borne by the forest, became the one she considered natural.
It was on the fringes of the Great Forest, on the shores of her homeland, where Grimalkin spotted her first ship: a floating forest without leaves, with people on board. She followed it along the coast until she arrived at a port. Docked at its pier were more floating forests, varying in shapes and sizes. Awestruck and beaming with curiosity, Grimalkin infiltrated the port as a domesticated cat, and boarded one of the ships. She explored it eagerly, but was severely disappointed with the lack of creatures on board. By the time she returned to the deck, ready to return to the forest, there was nothing but blue ocean surrounding her.
After the grueling trip, the ship finally arrived at port once more. The banners of Damerus flew high over its battlements, and a great city filled the horizon. Behind the city, however, towering, snow capped structures reached into the sky as far as the eye could see. Grimalkin had never seen mountains before. They were the most incredible sights she ever set eyes upon. She had to explore them as soon as possible.
