[15:09] <Broose> The last time we left your characters, you were figuring out what to do in the aftermath of the battle at Raindura. Escatair found several magical items in the inner keep, and Kestrel decided to search Markas' belongings for anything notable.
[15:09] <Broose> And she ended up finding this note: <Broose> Scrawled on the top, it says: "Dig behind the tavern," and the rest is a map leading from Raindura to a fishing village to the north.
[15:09] <Broose> What do you do?
[15:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> If Markas is conscious, Kestrel will ask him what the map leads to.
[15:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> If I'm not mistaken, I set out all the goods to be distributed equitably.
[15:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> What were they?
[15:12] * Deaddocus (~deaddocus@NewNet-9852487C.access.telenet.be) has joined #DungeonWorld
[15:12] <Broose> No, he's in the middle of a peaceful, herb-induced sleep. You can wake him up if you want, though.
[15:12] <joo> You mean you dumped all your shit one everyone else to carry?
[15:12] <joo> *on
[15:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> Sure, I'll wake him up.
[15:13] <Vaylon Kenadell> joo: Nuh-uh!
[15:13] <Broose> There's a straight sword, mail shirt, and woolen cloak, all weighing 1. There's also a silver coin which weighs 0.
[15:14] <joo> Oh, yes, some of it was stolen from the murdered enemy.
[15:14] <Vaylon Kenadell> There was also a scroll and some ashes.
[15:15] <Shaman> Anyone taking that cloak?
[15:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> I don't care.
[15:16] <joo> Oliver won't take anything unless there's something left that nobody else can carry.
[15:17] <Shaman> Broose: What does the woollen cloak look like?
[15:18] <Broose> You rouse Markas from his sleep and ask him about the map. He grits his teeth in anger, but eventually his expression softens and he sighs, resigned. "An artifact of power. I arranged for it to be given to me, to help my cause."
[15:19] <Broose> It's a grey, dusty old cloak, but it's big and warm.
[15:20] <Broose> Escatair knows it to be enchanted.
[15:20] <Shaman> Does it have a hood?
[15:21] <Shaman> Honestly, that was all I wanted to know.
[15:21] <Broose> Sure, it has a hood.
[15:21] <Vatican> Hey Broose, describe the scene going on here, Iike, what's what.
[15:22] <Broose> The party is near the gates inside this walled castle town, with their prisoner Markas nearby and apparently a bunch of magic items strewn about on the ground.
[15:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Arranged for by whom?"
[15:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Name names, Markas. Who is Eldingar? What are you plotting?"
[15:25] <Shaman> Grimalkin eagerly snatches the cloak and twirls it over her shoulders. A youthful laughter escapes her, her small head hidden in the hood's dark abyss. "Baaaah!" she bleats.
[15:25] <Broose> Damn crazy kids.
[15:25] <Shaman> Hehehehe
[15:26] <joo> Oliver looks at Grimalkin strangely.
[15:26] <Vatican> Whistling a dainty tune, Nikolai turns a corner, his high leather boots loudly sounding against the street, he stops as he is suddenly runs into the group of adventurers!
[15:27] <Vatican> Also : Time of day. For reasons.
[15:27] <Shaman> Grimalkin playfully returns Oliver's gaze, the faint glow of her cat eyes peering out of the hood's shadow.
[15:28] <joo> Damn, Nicolai just interrupted our eye thing.
[15:28] <joo> Is he really just waltzing around the aftermath of the siege?
[15:28] <Broose> "One of my followers. I sent him on a quest to retrieve it from its previous owner." Markas says. "Eldingar? This name is not familiar to me, and I plot nothing. I serve Dorn." He looks you in the eyes, Kestrel. "He will punish you for this, make no mistake."
[15:29] <Broose> There were other townspeople waltzing about too, Oliver. People have been buggering out of town since the battle ended.
[15:29] <Broose> Well, I suppose that isn't really waltzing around, but they aren't as Chaotic as Nikolai.
[15:29] <Broose> It's the early afternoon, Nikolai.
[15:30] <joo> Hey, Nikolai's portrait looks like Vatican.
[15:30] <Shaman> Baroness Kestrel of Raindura.
[15:30] <Shaman> I like the sound of that.
[15:30] <Vaylon Kenadell> Mmmm.
[15:31] <joo> LOL. Nice quote.
[15:31] <Vatican> "Ah! You must be the group I have heard about then!" says Nikolai. He flashes a smile "Are you the group that ended the dreadful siege, and other misfortunes going on around here then?"
[15:31] <joo> "I'm going out to get a bite to drink," I mean.
[15:31] <Vatican> heh
[15:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel looks from Markas to Luthor and says, "I am glad that I could help you bring this madman to justice, Luthor. If ever we meet again, I hope it is in more peaceful circumstances."
[15:32] <Broose> How does Oliver feel about Nikolai's fancy hat?
[15:33] <Vatican> It's quite fancy. keeps the sun out of my eyes
[15:35] <joo> Oliver approves of it.
[15:35] * Deaddocus (~deaddocus@NewNet-9852487C.access.telenet.be) has left #DungeonWorld
[15:36] <joo> Oliver cranes his neck upwards to look at this stranger. "We are some of those who were lucky enough to survive."
[15:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> Was Nikolai watching the battle?
[15:37] <Vatican> Yes. He was around, watching the battle.
[15:38] <joo> Why does Nicolai have "Lawful" in his moves and "Chaotic" as his alignment?
[15:38] <Vatican> cause some idiot forgot to change it!
[15:38] <Shaman> I was just wondering the same thing.
[15:39] <Shaman> Does my wooden spear count as an elongated wooden stake, by any chance?
[15:40] <Vaylon Kenadell> Isn't that spear tipped with chitin?
[15:40] <Vatican> I would say play to find out!
[15:40] <Vatican> but, as this concerns me greatly....
[15:40] <joo> Also known as "stab and see what happens."
[15:40] <Broose> Heh. It's tipped with chitin, so that won't work.
[15:40] <Shaman> Vaylon: shhh! We'll just casually take the chitin off.
[15:40] <Shaman> Darnit!
[15:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> If Luthor has nothing more to say, then Kestrel tells Norman to take the mail and straight sword since he is the most suitable for them.
[15:41] <joo> Stab him with the other end.
[15:41] <Broose> Just sharpen the other end of it just in case.
[15:41] <Shaman> Stab him with the blunt end.
[15:41] <Shaman> I like it.
[15:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> She'll give the arcane scroll and ashes to Escatair to study.
[15:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> And the silver coin, for that matter.
[15:41] <Vatican> Nikolai nods at the halfing "Yes, it was QUITE the bloodbath. Horrifying, even. It was quite a stroke of luck that you and your friends were here to drive them off."
[15:41] <Broose> Norman poses with his sick new armor and sword.
[15:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel overhears the new guy. Someone else with a silver tongue? Hmm. She goes over to him and studies him carefully.
[15:42] <Vatican> He bows deeply "How rude of me. Nikolai, of Ardmor. Adventurer. Wanderer, Lollygagger."
[15:43] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Pray tell, what is your name, friend?" says Kestrel smiling sweetly. No doubt she is still covered in blood from her furious rage earlier.
[15:43] <Vaylon Kenadell> And psychic, too? Oh, my.
[15:43] <Vatican> huehuehuehue
[15:43] <Shaman> HA
[15:44] <Broose> Surely it's not a silver tongue. That would be dangerous.
[15:44] <joo> LOL
[15:44] <Broose> Also, I just realized that Nikolai is weak to handling currency.
[15:44] <Shaman> I find pleasure in vatican's username, considering his character.
[15:45] <joo> Good thing he isn't a dirty peasant, so has no need for silver.
[15:46] <Vatican> Nikolai notes the arrival of the bloodstained Kestrel and gulps. He licks his lips before continuing "Yes, I noticed you out in the field. You are all quite a dangerous band! I did not know what to think of you all when I first heard of your arrival. I had figured perhaps you were another bandit group. I'm glad to see that I was mistaken!"
[15:46] <Broose> He'll look like a real snob when he refuses to take anything less than gold at the market.
[15:46] <Vatican> hehehe
[15:46] <Broose> How much Blood does Nikolai start with?
[15:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> Better question: how much Blood is Kestrel carrying?
[15:47] <joo> Heh.
[15:47] <Vatican> 6
[15:48] <Shaman> Grimalkin eyes Nikolai from inside her hood. "Baaah!" she bleats again.
[15:48] <Broose> I remember when Ajen used to moo sadly to himself.
[15:48] <Broose> (While in human form.)
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I am Kestrel, and these are my comrades." She names them. "We are agents of King Itzal," she says, casually cleaning her rapiers on her cloak. "He ordered us to come here and remove the bandits from Raindura. The Othnean attack caught us off-guard. Did you say Ardmor?"
[15:49] <Shaman> The little hatchling, seeing its foster mother bleat, tries to mimic the sound. It squeals awkwardly.
[15:49] <joo> Heh.
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> I'm not sure if that's adorable or creepy.
[15:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Probably going to go with creepy.
[15:49] <Shaman> Heh
[15:51] <Broose> Peio, the healer in Kestrel's employ, looks to you, Nikolai. "I come from Ardmor, too, but those are some strange clothes you wear!"
[15:53] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel pulls Oliver aside and tells him about the map. She repeats Markas' words about it being an artifact. "Should we try to recover it?"
[15:53] <Vatican> Nikolai nods "Yes, thought it has been some time since I have been home. Many years, in fact!" he turns to Peio and smiles "Ah! a fellow countryman! Yes, the current styles and trends ever elude me. I've always had a penchant for the older fashions.."
[15:55] <joo> How long would it take to walk to this village?
[15:56] <Vatican> Nikolai clears his throat before continuing "My reason for seking you out, now, Is that I wish to know if your band could use another! I have some skill with a blade, and wandering the wild trails of the land is not a hardship to me. It's a dangerous time, and it gets quite lonely, traveling from place to place without companionship. With you fine folks...
[15:56] <Vatican> "...I may be able to do some small good, and earn some coin to boot!" He flashes a winning smile
[15:56] <Vatican>
[15:57] <Broose> He may have a silver tongue, but he probably looks all pale and sweaty in the sun like this.
[15:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> Broose? How long would it take?
[15:57] <Shaman> hahaha
[15:57] <Vatican> compared to the Blood covered group in front of him?
[15:58] <Vatican> I think he looks quite presentable.
[15:58] <Shaman> "Baah!" Grimalkin bleats excitingly. The prospect of another companion is cause for celebration.
[15:58] <Broose> It's directly north of here, at the coast. It would only add about half a day to your journey to Damerus if you went there first.
[15:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Did she actually turn into a sheep?
[15:58] <Broose> No, she's just wearing a wool cloak.
[15:58] <Broose> She's channeling the spirit of the sheep.
[15:59] <joo> ...is it a cursed cloak that makes you talk like a sheep?
[15:59] <Broose> As far as Oliver and Kestrel know.
[15:59] <Broose> But not really.
[15:59] <Shaman> She's a druid, come on.
[15:59] <joo> <Shaman> "Baah!" Grimalkin bleats excitingly.
[15:59] <joo> Grimalkin bleats excitingly.
[15:59] <joo> bleats excitingly.
[15:59] <joo> excitingly
[16:00] <joo> Oliver pops a big old boner.
[16:00] <Shaman> HAHAHAHA
[16:00] <Shaman> Broose has it on the mark though.
[16:00] <Shaman> She's literally channeling goat spirits through the wool.
[16:00] <Shaman> Since she's a human, she's automatically tuned with sheep, sorry.
[16:00] <Vatican> It's ok. Shaman. They dont get what being a Druid is all about
[16:00] <Shaman> Not goat.
[16:01] <Broose> Crazy ass kids/druids.
[16:01] <joo> Oliver nods to Kestrel. "It seems wise to at leave have a look at it! Who knows what enemy we might face next."
[16:01] <Shaman> Vatican: You're the only one who supports me. I value you.
[16:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> Half a day, huh? Okay, let's go there first. Kestrel nods in agreement to Oliver.
[16:01] <Vatican>
[16:02] <Vatican> Former Druid protip: Be cool. Dont not be cool.
[16:02] <joo> Did Kestrel actually yank Oliver away during the conversation with Nikolai, or is this an alternate timeline?
[16:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> I would imagine they are whispering together and probably listening to Nikolai's yammering.
[16:03] <Vatican> I'm just adressing whoever is standing in front of me, assuming everyone there is part of the group and has a say
[16:04] <Shaman> "Baaah!" Grimalkin bleats again.
[16:04] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel looks Nikolai over again. "You must have a death wish."
[16:05] <joo> "This seems familiar..." Oliver says, looking at the ground.
[16:06] <joo> s/at leave/at least/
[16:07] <Vatican> Nilolai laughs "Or, a desire to be quite safe! What better place to be then the eye of a storm, eh? With the routing of that Othnean attack, I can think of no better place to be!"
[16:07] <Broose> He's Nilolai now because he's laughing.
[16:08] <Vatican> pfft
[16:08] <Vatican> Nikolai*
[16:08] <joo> Hahahah.
[16:09] <Broose> Markel, Kestrel's heavily armored bodyguard, grits his teeth. "Coming with us won't be safe. We walk into danger."
[16:09] <joo> "If you don't mind my asking, sir, where were you during the battle? If you have skill with a blade as you say, you might have helped to hold back the attackers."
[16:10] <Broose> Nikolai, you remember knights charging the walls with flaming swords. Fuck that.
[16:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hahaha.
[16:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> Don't worry; he's already brought the flaming swords out once. He won't do it again anytime soon or they'll get overplayed.
[16:11] <Broose> I'm going to keep whipping them out until you actually have a fight with them involved.
[16:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> Come at me bro.
[16:11] <Shaman> If only Selene was here.
[16:12] <joo> Whip it out, if you be men.
[16:12] <Broose> They ain't be, joo.
[16:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> Enough of this gay banter.
[16:13] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives Nikolai a hard look, waiting for his reply.
[16:14] <Vatican> Nikolai tips his hat "I was watching, of course. I put on my cuirass, found my sword, ran out to join the coming battle..when I was hit in the head with a rock! Apparently, the young damsel I had spent a delightful night with had a very angry suitor. I spent some time after the battle trying to get away from this madman.."
[16:14] <Vatican> during*
[16:14] <Vatican> said battle
[16:15] <joo> Oliver scratches his head.
[16:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel chuckles a little.
[16:15] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats.
[16:18] <Vatican> "..I ran for awhile, and then, when I turne around to double back, I found the poor fool on his back, quite unconscious! He looked so pale! He must have been sick. I returned him to the quite pleasant womans domicile, but, alas, after all this, the battle was already over" Nikolai frowns.
[16:19] <joo> Oliver shrugs. "You live a strange life."
[16:19] <Vatican> He was found on his back. pale. He must have been sick. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
[16:19] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats a confused "Baah?"
[16:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "I care not if you come with us or no, but don't hold us back."
[16:20] <Vatican> Nikolai nods happily "Of course! I'm sure we will all become good friends, given time! You'll see, I'll be quite handy to have around!"
[16:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> How would we go about shipping food to Damerus?
[16:22] <joo> "Others who have tried to join us have died," Oliver says. "It seems like many others, now. I hope you'll be more careful then they were." He glances at Kestrel momentarily.
[16:22] <Vaylon Kenadell> What's that supposed to mean?
[16:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> The glance, I mean.
[16:24] <Broose> I'm not sure, Kestrel. There's quite a bit of food stored in the keep, but for a city like Damerus, the bulk of it will be coming from the towns to the east, now that the road is clear.
[16:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> I see. Well... all right. I suppose there's nothing we can really do about the fact that Raindura has no real leadership.
[16:24] <Vatican> Nikolai nods "Of course, of course my small friend. Have no fear, I am not unused to the adventuring life!" He pats his ornate rapier and adjusts his archaic cuirass "I do not carry these about for show!"
[16:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> ... Yes there is.
[16:25] <Shaman> Orrrr
[16:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Markel, my friend, we've been through fire and water together, and today I ask you my greatest favor yet."
[16:25] <Shaman> Kestrel for baroness?
[16:25] <Broose> Markel bows his head. "What is it, my lady?"
[16:26] <joo> If you think the glance means something, that's an IC matter.
[16:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Will you stay here in Raindura? The town is bereft of a lord, and it needs leadership. Food must get to Damerus. The situation is dire, as all of us know. The rest of us, I am afraid, are called elsewhere to settle other troubles."
[16:32] <Broose> Markel frowns, but nods, slowly. "I cannot serve as a true lord without the king's blessing, but you are right, someone must lead here." He says. "If this must be done, I only ask that you keep yourself alive, out there."
[16:33] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel nods. "Yes, I will."
[16:34] <Vaylon Kenadell> I think I have nothing more to do or say about Raindura.
[16:34] <Broose> If everyone is agreement, then, the party can move on to the fishing village.
[16:35] * joo holds up a puppet of October. "Yes! I agree with that!"
[16:36] <Vatican> Onward!
[16:36] <Shaman> I'm feeling a romance building up.
[16:36] <Shaman> Markel and Kestrel sitting in a tree?
[16:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> Yes: Grimalkin and the Cloak.
[16:36] <Shaman> Well I won't even reflect that one.
[16:36] <Shaman> Ofc Grim and the sheep's spirit in the cloak are in love.
[16:37] <joo> Of the objects Kestrel dumped on the ground, what are left?
[16:37] <Broose> None, I think.
[16:38] <Shaman> Sorry, Broose, did you say the cloak was identified by Escatair? Did he say how?
[16:38] * Shaman begins rummaging through the logs anyways
[16:38] <Broose> It's enchanted, but he hasn't had time to study it yet.
[16:38] <Broose> He'll probably poke and sniff at it while you guys are walking.
[16:39] <Vatican> Not all wizards sniff things!
[16:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> Escatair is carrying some of the stuff.
[16:39] <joo> Will be come up behind Grimalkin and start sniffing her as they walk?
[16:39] <joo> *he
[16:39] <Vatican> that'lln be hilarious
[16:39] <Shaman> Grimalkin wouldn't mind.
[16:39] <Shaman> That's a very animalistic behaviour totally in line with what she's accustomed to.
[16:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, my~
[16:40] <Vatican> O.O
[16:40] <Shaman> A lot of creatures have smelled Grimalkin's butt.
[16:40] <joo> Heh.
[16:40] <Vaylon Kenadell> While they walk, Kestrel asks Oliver about that little glance he gave earlier.
[16:40] <Vatican> So, is the owl around?
[16:40] <joo> Yes, in fact. Wendy is on Oliver's shoulder.
[16:41] <Vatican> She's cool?
[16:41] <joo> Oliver says to Kestrel. "I couldn't help but think about you when bringing up all those people who died from acting reckless."
[16:43] <Vaylon Kenadell> "I often act brashly, admittedly. Poor Sendoa. If only I had been braver or more skilled."
[16:44] <joo> He shrugs. "But your life is your own affair, so I don't mean anything by it."
[16:44] <Vaylon Kenadell> She smiles and bumps into Oliver with her hips. "You care about me."
[16:45] <Broose> (He feels a slight bulge.)
[16:45] <joo> I-it's not like I actually care about you, Kestrel!
[16:45] <Vaylon Kenadell> Probably at his shoulders.
[16:46] <joo> Oliver smiles slightly. "Yes, I do."
[16:46] <joo> Wendy hoots dismissively.
[16:47] <Vaylon Kenadell> "As I you. I have grown fond of all of you. I would sooner sacrifice myself than to see one of you fall. The same is true for Markel. I stood in front of that storm being believing I would die protecting Markel." She pauses. "He deserves a reprieve."
[16:48] <joo> Oliver looks thoughtful, but doesn't say anything.
[16:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel also has nothing more to say at the moment.
[16:49] <Broose> Does the Vampire have to eat rations?
[16:50] <Vatican> Nah
[16:50] <Vatican> Spend blood each time camp is made
[16:50] <joo> What happens if he does eat something?
[16:50] <joo> Can vampires shit?
[16:50] <joo> Does it just come out undigested?
[16:50] <Vaylon Kenadell> They're undead. They have no biological functions.
[16:50] <Vatican> I'm sure he CAN eat, but, it does not really benefit him.
[16:50] <Broose> Okay, yeah, I think you're right.
[16:51] <Vatican> or that
[16:51] <Broose> Since the Vampire starts with no rations.
[16:51] <joo> Vaylon: like walking or talking?
[16:51] <Broose> Alright. The journey to the fishing village won't take any rations alone.
[16:51] <Vaylon Kenadell> They're supernatural beings.
[16:51] <joo> And?
[16:51] <Shaman> Do they have spirits?
[16:52] <Broose> Nikolai will need some cattle to bring with the party.
[16:52] <Vatican> wat
[16:52] <Vatican> the deep questions
[16:53] <Vaylon Kenadell> I thought we were the cattle.
[16:53] <Vaylon Kenadell> Especially Grimalkin.
[16:53] <Vatican> ^
[16:53] <Broose> I guess so.
[16:53] <Broose> That's probably why he's joining up.
[16:53] <Vatican> dunnno. She was not the one covered in blood
[16:53] <Shaman> Baah!
[16:53] <joo> I know I'd have joined up after hearing that exciting bleat.
[16:54] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hahaha.
[16:54] <Broose> Oliver's waiting for an exciting hoot.
[16:54] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, man, I think it's time for that video.
[16:54] <joo> Hahaha.
[16:54] <joo> Good idea.
[16:54] <Broose> You all follow the map Markas had. It cuts right through the forest instead of going back on the road, of course. This is a Bandit Map.
[16:55] <joo> www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNMq8XS4LhE
[16:55] <joo> Pictured: Nikolia
[16:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> Darn, you beat me to it.
[16:56] <Broose> After several hours of walking, you leave the forest and approach the coast. Eventually, you end up in the small village of Itsa.
[16:56] <Shaman> Wtf am I watching
[16:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> I never did get my t-shirt from those guys.
[16:57] <Broose> The village is made up of many small wooden houses, along with the docks and a larger building in the center.
[16:57] <Shaman> AHAHAHAHA, WTF
[16:57] <Shaman> Sorry, I'll keep my reactions to myself.
[16:57] <Vatican> dunno what you guys are watching. I have Mariah Carey playing in the background <.<
[16:57] <Broose> By the time you get here, it's later in the night.
[16:57] <Broose> What do you do?
[16:58] <Broose> It's a wonderful night to have a curse, Nikolai.
[16:58] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats a little, clearly exhausted with the day's traveling.
[16:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh9MzR-5kM0
[16:59] <Vatican> Nikolai seems to still be quite energetic
[16:59] <joo> Oliver says to Grimalkin, "Are... you alright?"
[16:59] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hmm.
[16:59] <Shaman> A curt bleat is uttered.
[17:00] <Shaman> to Oliver, that is, by Grimalkin.
[17:00] <joo> A curt ble@!
[17:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives the map to Oliver and tells him to find whatever it is. She's going to go to the tavern to see what she can find out.
[17:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> I want to see if I can find out if anything strange has been going on.
[17:02] <joo> Oliver accepts the map, and turns back to Grimalkin. "I don't know if you know this, but you just sound like a sheep to me!"
[17:02] <joo> Oliver chuckles.
[17:03] <Shaman> Grimalkin retreats within her hood and muffles another bleat.
[17:03] <Broose> Well, Oliver, the map already got you to the village. All that's left to do is to dig behind the tavern, as the note says.
[17:04] <Vatican> Nikolai follows Kestrel into the tavern
[17:04] <joo> Nikolai wastes no time in going after that arse.
[17:04] <joo> Oliver stares at her for a while longer, before appearing to shrug it off. To the others he says, "Let's go and dig this thing up, then."
[17:05] <Broose> The lanterns hung up throughout the tavern flicker as you enter. A few people glance at the both of you warily.
[17:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel takes note of the flickering lanterns.
[17:05] <joo> Does anyone have a ♠?
[17:06] <Vatican> I would figure that is part of adventuring gear
[17:06] <joo> I suppose Grimalkin is just going to end up doing it, regardless, but it would be interesting to know.
[17:06] <Shaman> A spade? Hmm, rather large, no?
[17:07] <joo> Maybe a trowel.
[17:07] <joo> Keep that thing away from Wendy!
[17:07] <Shaman> I suppose a smaller spade could work.
[17:08] <joo> (Wendy's theme song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCk-fh6SQO4)
[17:09] <Broose> Someone swears they saw a kraken in their fishing boat, Kestrel, but besides that, you don't hear much.
[17:10] <joo> The kraken was in the boat?
[17:10] <Broose> No, they were in their fishing boat when they saw it.
[17:10] <Shaman> HA!
[17:13] <Broose> Nikolai, Oliver, Grimalkin, what do you do?
[17:13] <joo> Are there any signs of disturbed earth behind the inn?
[17:14] <Vatican> Nikolai would like to discern realities
[17:15] <Vatican> he's inside this tavern
[17:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives the barkeeper a few silver and asks him if he's anything suspicious around lately.
[17:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> !r 1d4+2 coins
[17:15] <@pagebot> Vaylon: 4=2(+2) coins
[17:15] <Broose> Yes, looking around with your ranger eyes, you see a patch of dirt that looks out of place. Fortunately it's night, so you don't get any strange looks for milling about here.

[17:16] <@pagebot> Vatican: 8=3+4(+1) Discern in this tavern
[17:17] <Vatican> • What should I be on the lookout for?
[17:18] <joo> Since nobody appears to have any adventuring gear, Oliver ask Grimalkin if she can dig into the ground there.
[17:18] <joo> *asks
[17:19] <Broose> The bartender seems a little less wary of you when you slip him the coins, Kestrel. "We saw some outsiders going west, earlier. Looked pretty tired and hungry, but they didn't dare come too close to the village."
[17:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Really now, the Thief is the only one with adventuring gear. A Ranger can start with 10 uses of adventuring gear -- Oliver should at least carry a little bit.
[17:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> I wonder if I should just tell him. It might start a panic.
[17:20] <joo> Oh, wait, he does have some.
[17:20] * Vaylon Kenadell facepalms.
[17:20] <joo> Hahah. I looked at everyone else's character sheet, but not Oliver's!
[17:20] <Vatican> XD
[17:20] <Broose> Nikolai, most of these people are simple village folk -- easy prey. The only one here you should really worry about is Kestrel.
[17:20] <Vatican> womp womp
[17:21] <Broose> Yeah, Oliver, I was about to say, I thought you had some.
[17:21] <joo> Yes. Go and start biting Kestrel's neck, and she'll probably just think it's some kinky shit she's into.
[17:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> She'll probably briefly enjoy it until she feels the lifeforce being drained.
[17:22] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "I am an emissary of the king. There are reports of Othnean soldiers lurking about -- probably spies. If there is a watch in this village, you should inform them of this matter. You will do this, yes?"
[17:22] <Vatican> I think we would both be outed in that situation
[17:22] <joo> Ah, yes. Kestrel's big old boner would give her away.
[17:22] <joo> Then you'll both have reasons to keep each other's secret.
[17:23] <Shaman> joo: Sorry about that, was reading up on something quickly.
[17:23] <Shaman> Grimalkin shakes her head promptly, her bleats seemingly apologetic.
[17:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> Fuck that. I'll just kill him.
[17:24] <Vatican> I'm sure you could. eventually, once you figure out how
[17:24] <joo> Oliver nods. "Very well. We can do it the old-fashioned way!"
[17:24] <Broose> His eyes widen. "The king?" He nods quickly. "Ah, if you say so. Yes."
[17:24] <joo> He takes a small spade out of his backpack, and starts digging.
[17:24] <Broose> "Soldiers, though? Have they... landed?"
[17:25] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats commandingly at her hatchling. It squeals in return, and begins digging alongside Oliver.
[17:25] <Broose> I just imagined Kestrel finding out the last safe resting place Nikolai was at, and spawn camping him.
[17:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> "No, the main force has not landed yet. They are scattered." She frowns.
[17:26] <Vatican> I think I would enjoy spawning at the last place I rested at. Would be quite the trip for her, though
[17:26] <joo> A convenient way to Town Portal - just kill yourself.
[17:27] <Vatican> Nah. then Broose gets to do inconvinient things with my character I would not like.
[17:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, all right, that was a bust. I was trying to figure out who buried that whatever-it-is.
[17:29] <Broose> He nods to you, Kestrel, relieved. He summons a younger man from upstairs and has him inform the watch.
[17:30] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel thanks the barkeep and bids them good evening. She joins Oliver to see if progress has been made.
[17:30] <Vaylon Kenadell> She tries to avoid being seen if possible.
[17:30] <Broose> They were far too Stealth, it seems.
[17:30] <Vatican> Oliver follows Kestrel out, his boots sounding loud against the floorboard.
[17:31] <Vatican> fuck
[17:31] <Vatican> Nikolai*
[17:31] <Vatican> I was thinking of Oliver for some reason
[17:31] <Vatican> and his damn owl
[17:31] <Vaylon Kenadell> He's already started!
[17:31] <Vaylon Kenadell> So what's the deal with the owl? Why's it so important?
[17:31] <Vaylon Kenadell> Can Nikolai talk to owls or something?
[17:31] <Broose> Yes, Oliver and Grimalkin have managed to dig a sizable hole in the time you were in the tavern.
[17:31] <Vatican> No
[17:31] <Broose> They strike something hard at the bottom -- a small wooden box.
[17:32] <Vatican> I'm concerned about an animal, having a reaction to a walking dead thing with the party. Owl are known to be wise.
[17:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VRr9NG7RE0
[17:32] <Broose> You don't have that weakness, though.
[17:32] <Vatican> I dont have that efrfect on most animals, but, dunno if this owl might be diffrent
[17:32] <Vatican> yar
[17:33] <joo> Hmm.
[17:33] <joo> Wendy probably knows, but doesn't give a shit.
[17:33] <Vatican> Cool. then we shall carry on without worry!
[17:33] <Broose> As you walk out, Kestrel, Escatair approaches and asks if they can stay the night here.
[17:33] <Broose> Oliver can't even talk to his own owl.
[17:34] <joo> Oliver lifts out the box, and then looks around for Escatair.
[17:34] <joo> Damn, he's buggered off already!
[17:34] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "I am anxious to return to Damerus as soon as possible, but..." She lets out a long sigh, seeming very weary. "It has been a long few days. We should steal peaceful rest while we may."
[17:35] <joo> I suppose I'll just have to open it myself!
[17:35] <Vaylon Kenadell> She nods and brings him back around to Oliver for the opening of the box.
[17:35] <joo> Oliver carefully opens the box.
[17:36] <Broose> Oliver, you open the box and...
[17:36] <Broose> .......................
[17:36] <joo> ..................?!
[17:36] <Broose> There's a piece of chalk resting inside!
[17:37] <joo> Chork!
[17:37] <joo> Oliver stares at it for a while, then hands the box to Escatair.
[17:37] <Broose> Escatair sniffs it. "Oh my!"
[17:37] <joo> "Curious. It doesn't look like a powerful artifact to me."
[17:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> I get the feeling Markas was like Tyler Durden in Fight Club.
[17:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> And this whole thing was just bullshit.
[17:38] <Broose> Hah, why?
[17:38] <Broose> Oh, at first I thought you said Markel.
[17:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says to Escatair, "What is it?"
[17:42] <Broose> "I'm not sure, but it stinks strongly of magic."
[17:42] <Broose> "Let us finally get some rest, and I will examine this and the others," He says to you, Kestrel.
[17:45] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel nods to everyone. "We'll sleep here tonight."
[17:45] <Vaylon Kenadell> Unless anyone objects or has anything else to say, that's what we should do.
[17:45] <joo> Oliver doesn't object.
[17:46] <Vatican> Nikolai nods but says "I think I shall go out and enjoy this beautiful night for a bit longer. I shall join you all and get some rest soon enough" He smiles.
[17:46] <joo> He's gotten accustomed enough to sleeping indoors to do it now.
[17:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> All right. How much is room at the inn?
[17:48] <Broose> Thanks to your charm, Kestrel, you can get everyone a place to sleep for only five coins.
[17:48] <joo> And only one hand-job was needed.
[17:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> Fantastic. I'll do that.
[17:49] <Broose> Okay.
[17:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> I'll give as many handjobs as necessary. I'll take one for the time.
[17:49] <Vatican> heh
[17:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> *team
[17:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Or two or three or...
[17:49] <Broose> You all eat from the tavern's food and sleep... save for Nikolai.
[17:49] <Shaman> And Grimalkin...
[17:49] <Broose> You can take this time for your level up(s), Kestrel.
[17:49] <joo> And Wendy...
[17:49] <Broose> Feck off.
[17:49] <Shaman> HA
[17:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, I only have enough XP for one level up, I believe.
[17:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> I have 24 XP.
[17:50] <Shaman> Do I?
[17:50] <Broose> Oh, yeah.
[17:50] <Vaylon Kenadell> To get to level 6, I need... what, 12?
[17:50] <Broose> I forgot it goes up.
[17:50] <joo> You should have purposely failed a roll so you could level up twice.
[17:50] <Vaylon Kenadell> Eh.
[17:50] <Vaylon Kenadell> That's not the way.
[17:50] <Shaman> 13 EXP
[17:50] <Shaman> Oh
[17:50] <Shaman> To level 6?
[17:50] <Broose> I don't think anyone else can level up. You already did last session.
[17:50] <Shaman> 12 yes.
[17:51] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel chooses 1 point of Charisma and Connections.
[17:51] <Shaman> Says I have 14 exp.
[17:51] <Broose> Welcome to +3 CHA, Kestrel.
[17:51] <Vaylon Kenadell> Thank you.
[17:51] <Broose> Yeah, Vaylon didn't update that.
[17:51] <Vaylon Kenadell> I didn't update for the last session.
[17:51] <Vaylon Kenadell> I wasn't sure who levelled up or not.
[17:52] <Broose> It was everyone but Kestrel.
[17:52] <Shaman> Ah yeah, I did.
[17:52] <Shaman> Forgot to update my own exp
[17:52] <Shaman> My bad
[17:52] <joo> AFK briefly.
[17:52] <Broose> Nikolai, it is a fine night to go out for a meal.
[17:52] <Broose> What do you do?
[17:53] <Shaman> Wait
[17:53] <Shaman> Crap
[17:53] <Shaman> W/e
[17:53] <Vatican> Nikolai steps out to enjoy the night air, but, hands in pockets, he decides to take a stroll about the town, focusing on the western area. Looking for any signs of this group of outsiders the bartender spoke of, or where they might be headed. Dunno what I would need to roll though
[17:54] <Vatican> I have 6 blood, I cant hold anymore till I spend some after I sleep
[17:54] <Vatican> hunting now would be quite useless
[17:54] <Broose> Oh, yes.
[17:54] <Broose> My bad.
[17:54] <Shaman> No harm in scouting potential victims
[17:54] <Shaman> For emergencies.
[17:54] <Broose> You can try to Discern Realities, Nikolai.
[17:55] <Vatican> Eh, he's more of a night guy anyway
[17:55] <Vatican> !r 2d6+1 Discernin'
[17:55] <@pagebot> Vatican: 12=6+5(+1) Discernin'
[17:55] <Vatican> O0O
[17:56] <Broose> Ask your questions.
[17:56] <Vatican> • What should I be on the lookout for?, • What here is useful or valuable to me?, • What here is not what it appears to be?
[17:58] <Broose> You walk out some ways out of the village, Nikolai, following some tracks you see. It seems they go west, along the coast. It's always useful to know where you might find a good meal out on the road.
[17:59] <Broose> There isn't anything you should be on the lookout for, though, and the only thing that is not what it appears to be here is you, creature of the night!
[18:00] <Vatican> Nikolai raises an eyebrow at the tracks. He shrugs, and decides to follow them, to see where they might lead.
[18:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> Man, vampires don't even really need to sleep.
[18:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> They do rest in their safe place. Does Nikolai have a coffin?
[18:01] <Broose> As you walk further down the coast, you see signs of a campfire on the other side of a small hill.
[18:01] <Vatican> Nah
[18:01] <Vatican> Oh my
[18:02] <Vatican> Nikolai will attempt to sneak a bit closer, to get a better look. Can I do that?
[18:02] <Vatican> I dont think he has a coffin. Just means that wherever he last rested will count as that "safe place"
[18:03] <Broose> Sure. You stalk up near the peek of the hill and peek over.
[18:03] <Broose> These must be the outsiders. There around six of them here, resting for the night.
[18:04] <Vatican> Can Nikolai see any livery, banners, or anything that might identify them being soldiers or anything?
[18:05] <Broose> They wear leather armor and carry axes. They're definitely soldiers!
[18:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh my god!
[18:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kill them all, Nikolai!
[18:06] <Broose> Aww, man.
[18:06] <Broose> Come on. They're just retreating.
[18:06] <Vatican> Nikolai decides to make his way back to the town, and to the tavern.
[18:07] <Vatican> I dont want to hold up the game with my side shenanigans also
[18:07] <Broose> Very well. Does he rest up, then?
[18:07] <Vatican> Yea.
[18:07] <Broose> Most of everyone's gone to bed by the time you return.
[18:07] <Broose> Okay.
[18:07] <Broose> Spend 1 blood or gain 1 hunger.
[18:07] <Vatican> I'll give up some Blood
[18:08] <Broose> Very well!
[18:08] <Broose> You all wake up after a well-deserved rest.
[18:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> Wait, he has to spend 1 Blood every time we make camp?
[18:08] <Broose> Well, mostly. Nikolai hasn't earned shit.
[18:08] <Broose> Yes.
[18:08] <Broose> Or gain 1 Hunger.
[18:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> Huh. Er... Hmm.
[18:09] <Broose> Because he lives off Blood.
[18:09] <Vaylon Kenadell> But he can also spend 1 Blood at any other time?
[18:09] <Broose> Instead of food.
[18:09] <Broose> Yeah.
[18:09] <Broose> Blood is used for a lot of shit.
[18:09] <Vatican> Nikolai goes to Kestrel and informs her of the tracks he found, and the group of 6 soldiers by the campfire.
[18:09] <Vaylon Kenadell> It's odd that he has to spend 1 Blood just to make camp -- and doesn't get anything for doing so.
[18:10] <Broose> Not really, because it's like food for him.
[18:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> Sure, but when the rest of us make camp, we heal.
[18:10] <Vatican> Some sacrifices for being a vamp
[18:10] <joo> make vamp
[18:10] <Broose> Indeed. The class has the potential to be pretty dang powerful.
[18:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> I'm not sure it makes sense as written that way, but all right.
[18:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hey, wait a second.
[18:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> Nikolai isn't making camp.
[18:11] <Broose> Yeah he is, he went to sleep.
[18:11] <Vaylon Kenadell> That's not making camp.
[18:12] <Vatican> We are at an inn, but, I assumed that it counts the same. GM's call
[18:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> The way I read it, making camp is purposefully resting.
[18:12] <Broose> "Whenever you stop to catch your breath for more than an hour or so, you’ve probably made camp."
[18:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> Right. All he's doing is waiting for us mortals to rest.
[18:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> He isn't resting.
[18:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> You get what I'm saying?
[18:13] <Vatican> Hrm
[18:13] <Vaylon Kenadell> Of course, he can rest and in turn gets one of those benefits of spending blood.
[18:13] <Broose> <Broose> Very well. Does he rest up, then?
[18:13] <Broose> <Vatican> Yea.
[18:13] <Vaylon Kenadell> But otherwise he can just keep chugging along while we rest.
[18:13] <Vatican> I think the question is, do Vamps sleep
[18:13] <Vaylon Kenadell> Ah, okay. That means he gets a benefit from spending 1 Blood.
[18:14] <joo> It sounds like it's intended for the vampire to do that whenever the rest of the party rests.
[18:14] <Vaylon Kenadell> Right, but he doesn't necessary have to just spend 1 Blood for no reason if the rest of us make camp.
[18:14] <Vaylon Kenadell> That's what I've been saying.
[18:14] <Vaylon Kenadell> *necessarily
[18:14] <joo> That contradicts what I said!
[18:14] <Vatican> Yea. I'll spend blood to resist a weakness for a short time, then
[18:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> Ooh!
[18:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> Okay.
[18:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> I got confused.
[18:15] <joo> It seems like if the vampire didn't have to gain hunger periodically, it would be really overpowered.
[18:15] <Vaylon Kenadell> The way it was written, it sounded like he had to just spend 1 Blood for no reason whenever the rest of us made camp.
[18:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> But, if I'm reading it correctly, he can opt to make camp with the rest of us, spending 1 Blood to gain some effect.
[18:16] <Shaman> Resting isn't always equated with sleeping. Resting could be relaxing.
[18:16] <Vatican> Heh
[18:16] <Shaman> cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.
[18:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, Broose, what do you think?
[18:16] <Vatican> Alright. So, the hard questions. Does Nikolai actually SLEEP, or spend blood, and just chill, then?
[18:16] <Broose> No, I'm pretty sure he just has to spend 1 Blood for no reason.
[18:17] <Vaylon Kenadell> No, I don't read it that way.
[18:17] <Shaman> Preserving strength could be equated with recovering strength.
[18:17] <Shaman> Blood instead of hunger
[18:17] <Shaman> And weakness.
[18:17] <Vatican> Look what I caused DX
[18:18] <Shaman> Refreshing himself.
[18:18] <Shaman> With blood!
[18:18] <Broose> The spending Blood and Hunger options seem like they're meant to be done whenever.
[18:18] <joo> I agree.
[18:18] <Broose> Him losing Blood or gaining Hunger over time is just because he needs it to live.
[18:19] <joo> It's equivalent to always gaining hunger upon making camp, but having the option to spend 1 blood to counteract it.
[18:19] <Vatican> Ah, so, when I spend blood when I make camp, I dont choose an option from the list, then, Broose?
[18:19] <Broose> That's what I believe, Vatican.
[18:19] <Vatican> Allrighty
[18:19] <Vatican> So, I'll spend my Blood
[18:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> That seems imbalanced to me considering how often we make camp.
[18:19] <Broose> Because one of the options you can use any time is 'remove 1 Hunger' anyway.
[18:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, all right.
[18:19] <Vatican> I can balance it out with letting myself get some Hunger, if needed
[18:20] <Vatican> , and tryig to get some blood from time to time.
[18:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> It's just confusing to word it as "When you make camp, spend 1 Blood or gain 1 Hunger."
[18:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> Why would the vampire ever bother making camp if he gets nothing from it?
[18:21] <Vatican> To conform
[18:21] <Shaman> Ah, I see.
[18:21] <Shaman> Ha!
[18:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> That's troubling me, still.
[18:21] <Broose> Well, perhaps they interpreted Making Camp as a more passive action.
[18:21] <Shaman> He gets hungry just watching democracy take place and having to conform, yeah.
[18:21] <joo> It seems like it's intended to happen approximately every day.
[18:21] <Vatican> People would catch on, I suspect, also, I see him using the blood as a sort of dark fuel for himself. He needs to spend himself to keep himself winding
[18:22] <Vaylon Kenadell> All right.
[18:22] <Broose> Alright. So, uh, where were we?
[18:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> Now that the philosophical ramifications of being undead are dispensed with, we can continue with the game!
[18:23] <Vatican> Everyone is waking up
[18:23] <joo> Escatair was about to tell us what the chalk does.
[18:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> ^
[18:24] <Vatican> and Nikolai tells Kestrel about that Camp of Men he found
[18:24] <Broose> Yes, Escatair has identified the enchantment by now.
[18:26] <Broose> He explains to you, Kestrel, that if you write a word down with the chalk, you and anyone you're touching will be transported to the place of the writing when you next speak it.
[18:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, what is it, man?!
[18:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> (ノ◕ヮ◕し)
[18:26] <Vatican> Ah
[18:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh my god guys!
[18:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> Word of Rechalk!
[18:26] <Vatican> well, teleportation chalk
[18:27] <joo> www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Appw2sGt9A
[18:27] <Vatican> Wonder where that guy was trying to get too
[18:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> I guess we can chalk this one up to good taste.
[18:28] <Shaman> AHAHAHA
[18:28] * Shaman claps for Vaylon
[18:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Ah, Escatair, I could kiss you! An amazing discovery!"
[18:28] <Shaman> Best pun of the day.
[18:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel excitedly tells the rest of the party.
[18:29] <joo> Heh.
[18:29] <Shaman> Grimalkin doesn't quite get it, but at least she isn't bleating anymore.
[18:29] <joo> Escatair blushes and makes a kissy face at Kestrel, closing his eyes.
[18:31] <Broose> Escatair agrees! And asks if he may have a few hours to examine the rest of the items.
[18:31] <joo> Oliver looks astonished. "What a nice find!"
[18:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel agrees. She tells everyone what Nikolai discovered in the night. "We should try to track them down and take them prisoner. Loose ends won't do." She should know; she's a seamstress.
[18:33] <Vaylon Kenadell> Sometimes, with all the blood and screaming, it's hard for Kestrel to remember sometimes that she is, in fact, a seamstress.
[18:33] <Vatican> heh
[18:34] <Shaman> Should we use the chalk
[18:34] <Shaman> To appear at the camp?
[18:34] <Vatican> Nikolai "If we wish to catch them, we should hurry. They might have broken camp by now, and set off!"
[18:34] <joo> Oliver thinks for a while, then nods. "At least with that chalk we'll be able to transport them easily."
[18:34] <joo> "Hey, Escatair, does it run out like normal chalk?"
[18:36] <Vaylon Kenadell> Shaman: No, you write a word down, like, say, "preztels" and then the next time you speak the word, you appear at the place where you wrote the word down. That's how it works, right?
[18:36] <Broose> Yes.
[18:37] <joo> Let's try it with "pretzels."
[18:38] <Broose> Escatair nods. It won't last forever, like any other piece of chalk. But it'll last a pretty long dang time.
[18:38] <Shaman> ohhh
[18:39] <Shaman> Doh!
[18:39] <Broose> He asks for the cloak back from Grimalkin.
[18:39] <@pagebot> He asks for the bum back from Grimalkin.
[18:39] <Shaman> Heh
[18:39] <joo> Hahah.
[18:39] <Shaman> Grimalkin hands the bum back to Escatair.
[18:40] <Shaman> Grimalkin sheds her cloak and reluctantly hands it to Escatair. "Mine." she mutters.
[18:41] <Broose> Escatair rolls his eyes. He retrieves the armor and sword from Norman, as well, and then heads back upstairs.
[18:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel asks Nikolai to lead the way.
[18:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Escatair never answered Oliver, though.
[18:42] <joo> He did.
[18:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> Ah -- before they do that, Kestrel wonders aloud if she should test the chalk now.
[18:42] <Vaylon Kenadell> And she looks around at everyone else while saying that.
[18:44] <joo> Oliver shrugs, as if to say "Why not?"
[18:45] <Vatican> Nikolai says "Worthy a try!"
[18:45] <Shaman> Grimalkin doesn't understand what chalk is.
[18:45] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel runs up to her room and marks on the floor: "tavern"
[18:45] <Shaman> And her expression betrays that lack of knowledge.
[18:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> Then she pockets the chalk and rejoins the others.
[18:46] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Lead the way!"
[18:46] <Broose> ("This tavern sucks!" *poof*)
[18:48] <Vatican> Nikolai nods, and walks off, leading the party in the direction of the soldiers camp
[18:51] <Broose> Very well! You make your way up the little hill and look over, but it seems the soldiers have already left. You see only the remains of their fire.
[18:51] <joo> Oliver looks for their tracks.
[18:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Damn, if only we had --
[18:52] <Vatican> Nikolai's shoulders sag "Hrm. As I said."
[18:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Okay, fine.
[18:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Good thing we have a Ranger with us!
[18:53] <Broose> Roll Hunt and Track, Oliver.
[18:54] <joo> !r 2d6+3 -- Hunt and Track (with Wendy)
[18:54] <@pagebot> joo: 11=4+4(+3) -- Hunt and Track (with Wendy)
[18:55] <Vatican> beast
[18:55] <Broose> Choose 1, Oliver.
[18:55] <joo> My decision will depend on whether the trail ends or not.
[18:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, no, joo, that's not how the move works, I believe.
[18:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> That bit about "Determine what caused the trail to end" is the game letting the Ranger have power over what happens fictionally.
[18:56] <joo> Oh, really?
[18:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Yes, I believe that is the purpose of that choice.
[18:56] <joo> Okay, then, I determine that it ended because a giant owl ate them.
[18:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Some of the moves are geared toward allowing players to have power over what is in the world, fictionally.
[18:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> No, no!
[18:56] <joo> its canon
[18:57] <Vatican> XD
[18:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> You as a character can make the choice to "Determine what caused the trail to end" which implies that you reach the end of the trail.
[18:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> Your decision was that of deciding you reached the end.
[18:57] <joo> What do you judge, Broose?
[18:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Obviously, the GM will describe what you determine.
[18:58] <Broose> Sounds chill to me.
[18:58] <Vatican> BROOSE ALMIGHTY
[18:58] <joo> It seems odd to have to the choice to either find or not find your quarry.
[18:58] <joo> *to have the
[18:58] <joo> Well... to either not find or maybe find.
[18:58] <Broose> You can keep following the trail with the other choice, you'd just have to roll again.
[18:58] <Broose> And you'd risk not finding anything at all.
[18:59] <Broose> That's the risk of gaining valuable information.
[18:59] <joo> What do you mean?
[19:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> Presumably it's information over and above that which you'd learn from simply encountering your quarry.

[19:00] * Keita (Mibbit@2EB0E69B.A4E0643E.3C7CD25B.IP) has joined #DungeonWorld
[19:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> Like, if you were following a monster, and you chose to gain a useful bit of information about the quarry, maybe you could learn it has a weakness to something.
[19:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> You wouldn't learn that if you simply chose to catch up to it.
[19:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> (Not that I read that other option as necessary catching up to it.)
[19:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> *necessarily
[19:01] <joo> Okay, then, Oliver will try to determine what caused the trail to end, if applicable.
[19:02] <joo> He says to the others, "I can track them down... if we're that intent on capturing them."
[19:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Worry not, my friend; I will make every effort to capture them alive, Oliver, and do no harm."
[19:03] <joo> Wait... does choosing this mean that I'm precluding the possibility of just finding them immediately?
[19:04] <Broose> Why would it mean that?
[19:04] <joo> Because you seemed to agree with Vaylon's statement that the ranger chooses whether the trail ended or not.
[19:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> Just because it ends doesn't mean you find them.
[19:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> We could track them all the way to a stream or something.
[19:05] * Keita (Mibbit@2EB0E69B.A4E0643E.3C7CD25B.IP) Quit (http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[19:05] <Vaylon Kenadell> Or maybe an owlbear lair.
[19:06] <Broose> Or it could end because they stopped moving, and they're right there.
[19:06] <Vaylon Kenadell> Yep.
[19:06] <Vaylon Kenadell> There's wiggle room in the way the move's written.
[19:07] <joo> Very well.
[19:08] <Vatican> Onward!

[19:29] <Broose> <Broose> Alright, Oliver. You lead the party and follow the soldiers' tracks. After awhile, as you pass another hill, you can see them walking in the distance. It seems they hadn't left the camp too long ago.
[19:30] <Vatican> nuice
[19:30] <Broose> You're in a rocky, hilled area, and you see the beach not too far away from you, now. What do you do?
[19:31] <joo> Oliver whispers to the others. "There are are. Easy as anything. We should probably get around them so they can't escape when we make our presence know."
[19:31] <joo> *known
[19:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel nods. "Two of us should circle around. I'll go. Who will go with me?" she whispers.
[19:33] <Vatican> Nikolai nods "I will join you then, Kestrel, and earn my keep"
[19:37] <joo> Apart from Oliver, Kestrel and Nikolai, there is just Norman and Escatair left, now, right?
[19:37] <Broose> Peio.
[19:37] <joo> Oh, yes!
[19:38] <Shaman> Wow
[19:39] <Shaman> Guess Grimalkin stayed at the inn.
[19:39] <joo> ...
[19:39] * Shaman pouts and turns a cold shoulder to joo.
[19:39] <joo> Sorry. I'm forgetting things like a mad bitch, apparently.
[19:39] <Broose> Wow, joo. I'm disappointed in you.
[19:39] <Shaman> It's alright, haha.
[19:39] <joo> Hahaha.
[19:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> Poor Grimalkin.
[19:40] <Shaman> Grimalkin follows Oliver as she usually does.
[19:40] <Broose> Alright, what's the plan?
[19:40] <Shaman> Broose: Unless stated otherwise, Grimalkin will always be following Oliver.
[19:40] * Shaman clicks auto follow.
[19:40] <joo> Heh.
[19:41] <Vatican> huehuehuehue
[19:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gestures to Nikolai to stay close, and she circles around them in a wide arc, moving steathily, keeping to tall grass or something, staying low.
[19:41] <Vatican> autofollow. I like it
[19:41] <Broose> Grimalkin walks up to Oliver and then continues her walking animation without actually moving.
[19:41] <joo> XD
[19:41] <Vatican> Nikolai nods, and follows Kestrel
[19:41] <joo> Oliver directs the others to fan out a bit and get as close as they can to the quarry without revealing themselves.
[19:42] <Broose> Man, it's hot out here, Nikolai.
[19:42] <joo> He readies his bow, but doesn't draw any arrow.
[19:43] <Broose> You're going to surround them, then? Very well!
[19:43] <joo> Yeas.
[19:44] <Vatican> Nikolai pulls his wide brimmed hat down lower, keeping the sun from as much of his face as he can
[19:44] <Vatican> He's also wearing some out of fashion gloves!
[19:44] <Broose> Circling around them isn't very hard. They're all walking at a fairly slow pace, and Nikolai and Kestrel are both pretty dextrous motherfuckers.
[19:44] <Broose> Are they solid white?
[19:46] <Broose> Eventually, Kestrel and Nikolai are in place ahead of the soldiers, and they are none the wiser. What do you do?
[19:46] <Shaman> Grimalkin, feeling an itch inside her, grits her teeth and proceeds to transform.
[19:46] <Vatican> colors? they are quite faded, but they used to be a dark velvet, with red accents.
[19:46] <Shaman> !r 2d6+2 Baah!
[19:46] <@pagebot> Shaman: 9=2+5(+2) Baah!
[19:46] <Broose> A sheep? You gain 2 hold.
[19:47] <Vatican> No fucking way
[19:47] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats in earnest this time.
[19:47] <joo> Oliver nods in approval at Grimalkin's commitment to pacifism.
[19:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> Do we need to defy danger to avoid being seen?
[19:48] <Shaman> "Baah! Baaah!" she bleats and bleats. The sight of grass distracts her as she goes to gnaw on a couple mouthfuls.
[19:48] <Vatican> ..wow
[19:48] <Broose> Nope. In this case, you can just do it.
[19:49] <Vatican> this is happening
[19:49] <Shaman> The hatchling, squealing away relentlessly to mimic its foster mother, follows.
[19:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Okay. Hmm.
[19:49] <Broose> Oliver, what do you do? This sheep is going to blow your cover.
[19:49] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel draws her bow and calls from her hidden spot. "Give up now, Othneans. You are surrounded. If you lay down your arms, you will not be harmed."
[19:49] <joo> Oliver lays a hand on Grimalkin's wooly head. "Shhh...!"
[19:50] <joo> "Oh, never mind."
[19:50] <Broose> What a familiar situation.
[19:50] <joo> Oliver steps forward and starts advancing toward the prisoners.
[19:50] <Broose> Hah.
[19:50] <Broose> They're already prisoners.
[19:50] <joo> Damn right.
[19:51] <Shaman> Grimalkin lets out a few more bleats, "Baah! Baah! Baah!" and strangely enough, the hatchling starts to respond.
[19:51] <Shaman> It crawls behind Oliver, seemingly ready to pounce.
[19:51] <Broose> They look between Kestrel and Oliver. "Oh shit!" You hear someone shout.

[19:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oliver can't be that threatening.
[19:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Surrender! I don't want to kill you."
[19:53] <joo> They probably saw him impaling two men with one arrow, earlier.
[19:53] <Broose> Yeah.
[19:53] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, yeah.
[19:53] <Broose> They drop all their weapons to the ground. They're not fucking around with you guys anymore.
[19:54] <Vaylon Kenadell> Good!
[19:54] <Vatican> Nikolai places a hand on his rapier...but then releases it, in surprise
[19:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel puts away her bow and motions Nikolai to follow her. She walks forward, pulling enough rope from her adventuring gear to bind them all.
[19:55] <joo> Oliver comes forward with Peio and Norman, and they pick up their weapons.
[19:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> How many uses do I mark off?
[19:55] <joo> The dropped weapons, I mean.
[19:55] <Broose> Two, Kestrel.
[19:55] <Vaylon Kenadell> Okay.
[19:55] <Broose> One of them grumbles. "Oh, come on, we just want to go home already."
[19:56] <Shaman> The hatchling returns to the bushes, returning shortly after with a sheep in tow.
[19:56] <Shaman> "Baah!" Grimalkin bleats.
[19:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Maybe we should let one of them go. As a warning to the rest of Othnea.
[19:56] <Shaman> You're going to warn Othnea with mercy?
[19:57] <joo> I don't think a warning is likely to stop them from invading!
[19:57] <joo> So you're only giving them more information about our defences.
[19:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> True.
[19:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hold on -- you're holding a talent contest? I heard you had gone soft, but this is too much.
[19:58] <Broose> It might make them fear your party, though.
[19:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> *kronar*
[19:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Even some of the trees have been stabbed!
[19:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Anyway...
[19:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Now that they're bound, Kestrel says, "Everyone gather around and touch me."
[19:59] <Vaylon Kenadell> >_> Boy... that sounds dirty.
[19:59] <joo> Oh my~
[19:59] * joo gets a handful of Kestrel.
[19:59] <joo> Er, I mean...
[19:59] <Vatican> maybe we should find out if they were going to regroup
[19:59] <joo> Oliver gets a handful of Kestrel.
[19:59] <Vatican> join up with a larger force
[19:59] <Vatican> or just retreating
[19:59] <Vaylon Kenadell> I think it's pretty obvious that they're retreating, but maybe Nikolai can ask.
[20:00] <Vatican> Nikolai places a gloved hand on Kestrel's hip, and winks
[20:00] <Vatican> huehuehuehue
[20:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> (◔ ◡ ◔) Oh, you.
[20:01] <Vatican> Probabbly not now. But, maybe after a few hours. Also, I'm just listing how much blood I have in my inventory Broose.
[20:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel pauses. "Where's Grimalkin?"
[20:01] <Shaman> Grimalkin puts a hoof on Kestrel's leg.
[20:01] <Shaman> "Baah!" she bleats.
[20:01] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel looks at Grimalkin in confusion.
[20:01] <Shaman> The hatchling is on her back.
[20:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Tavern!"
[20:02] <joo> ...did the prisoners touch her?
[20:02] <Shaman> ahahahahahahahaha

[20:04] <Shaman> joo: I meant my Sunday comedic entertainment.
[20:04] <joo> Good.
[20:04] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel's a fucking whore. Decency means nothing to her, except possibly as a chalk-word since it's not one she'd ever normally use.
[20:04] <Broose> Well, I don't know, but I assume Kestrel wouldn't have said the command word if they weren't all touching.

[20:20] <Broose> There's an old wooden door behind you, and stairs leading up to your left and right. The room is cylindrical, suggesting you're in some kind of tower.
[20:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well...
[20:22] <Broose> There are some chairs and a table in the middle of the room, and torches along the wall.
[20:22] * Darci (~Rebs@NewNet-143065C5.ded.execulink.com) Quit
[20:22] <Broose> Suddenly, you hear a booming voice.
[20:22] <joo> It's El Ding-Dong!
[20:23] <Broose> "Hah! I have finally caught you, blasted thieves! Worry not, your disintegrations will be quick and painless!"
[20:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> Thieves? Thieves?
[20:25] <Broose> The six soldiers you caught are freaking the fuck out trying to break out of their bindings.
[20:25] <joo> Which way do the stairs go?
[20:25] <Broose> They go up.
[20:25] <Vatican> Nikolai say aloud "But, we are not thieves, good sir, merely a band of adventures! See for yourself!"
[20:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hahaha.
[20:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> Nice Ghostbusters quote.
[20:26] <Broose> Who?
[20:26] <Shaman> Grimalkin bucks and lands her hooves square in a prisoner's face.
[20:26] <Shaman> -1 hold.
[20:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> You and joo. It's from Ghostbusters.
[20:26] <Broose> Oh.
[20:26] <joo> What quote?
[20:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Hey, where do these stairs go?" "They go up."
[20:26] <Shaman> Can I roll damage?
[20:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> It's funny because it's obvious.
[20:26] <joo> It isn't obvious!
[20:27] <Broose> It would be if Oliver himself actually asked it.
[20:27] <Broose> Grimalkin, what, are you trying to murder them?
[20:28] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel speaks airily in a cock-sure voice: "Thieves? Nonsense. We are merely returning that which was stolen. Come and see for yourself."
[20:28] <joo> Kestrel can be sure of cock.
[20:29] <Shaman> Euhm
[20:29] <Shaman> Just hurt them.
[20:29] <Vatican> It can be, whats the word
[20:29] <joo> I'm sure that will calm them down.
[20:29] <Vatican> non-lethal damage
[20:29] <Shaman> ^
[20:29] <Shaman> Just a good buck to the face from a sheep?
[20:29] <Shaman> Do sheeps even buck
[20:30] * Shaman goes to research
[20:30] <Vatican> they do today
[20:30] <Shaman> NO
[20:30] <Shaman> Definitely not.
[20:30] <Shaman> Not even a hoof!
[20:30] <Shaman> It's like... a paw.
[20:30] <Broose> Well, you can just do that. They fall over and flounder about for a few seconds before giving up.
[20:30] <joo> Heh.
[20:31] <Shaman> I saved us!
[20:31] <Shaman> From these tied up soldiers.
[20:31] <Vatican> Nikolai is now floating upside down at this point
[20:32] <Vaylon Kenadell> Can't he just do that normally?
[20:33] <Vatican> No
[20:33] <Vatican> He does not float
[20:33] <Vatican> he cant just poof levitate and shit
[20:34] <Vatican> next think ya know, I spend blood to shoot lasers out of my eyes
[20:34] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hahaha.
[20:34] <joo> He doesn't flo@? What kind of shitty vampire is he
[20:35] <Vaylon Kenadell> Stop that!
[20:35] <joo> №
[20:35] <Vaylon Kenadell> ಠ_ಠ
[20:35] <Vatican> we;;, he's better then the twilight ones, for sure
[20:36] <Broose> The voice pauses at your words, Kestrel. "Hmm... we will see! Come upstairs, to my Hall of Mirrors."
[20:36] <joo> Heh.
[20:36] <Vatican> Good thing I did not choose that weakness XD
[20:37] <Vatican> holy shit
[20:37] <Vatican> that would be sooo akward
[20:37] <joo> Hahaha.
[20:37] <joo> Come upstairs, to my hall of garlic!
[20:37] <Shaman> hahahaha
[20:37] <Vatican> XD
[20:37] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel takes out the chalk. She looks at everyone else. "Come. Let's not keep the nice voice waiting." She proceeds up the stairs.
[20:37] <joo> Oliver looks around uneasily. Are there any windows?
[20:38] <Broose> No, Oliver.
[20:38] <Shaman> Grimalkin unfurls back into her human form, only to grind her teeth immediately after for another transformation.
[20:38] <Vatican> Nikolai gestures to the prisoners "We leaving them here, or taking them along?"
[20:38] <Shaman> !r 2d6+2 Mountain Baah!
[20:38] <@pagebot> Shaman: 8=4+2(+2) Mountain Baah!
[20:39] <Shaman> Mountain goat, if that wasn't clear.
[20:39] <Vatican> ...she turns into a mountain?
[20:39] <Vatican> ah
[20:39] * Shaman rolls his eyes.
[20:39] <Shaman> Sheesh
[20:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Leave them here for now."
[20:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> She looks at the prisoners. "I wouldn't move from that spot if I were you."
[20:40] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats with a deeper, hoarser bleat, and begins climbing the steps behind Kestrel.
[20:40] <joo> Oliver follows.
[20:40] <joo> Oh, yes!
[20:40] <joo> Wendy freaks out and flies about near the ceiling, bashing into the walls and shit!
[20:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> No, Wendy's not there. Surely Wendy wasn't touching Kestrel.
[20:41] <joo> Does indirect touch count?
[20:41] <joo> Wendy was touching Oliver.
[20:42] <Broose> Yes, it does count.
[20:42] <Vatican> Nikolai nods. He floats down to one of the prisoners. and looks directly at him, his yellow eyes boring into him. "As she says, I would not move. If you and your friends are not here when we return, well.." He leans in close for a whisper "I will bleed you dry.." he leans back, winks, and floats off.
[20:42] <Broose> D:
[20:42] <Shaman> The hatchling is quick to follow its foster mother.
[20:43] <joo> Then Wendy is here. She eventually calms down and sits somewhere in a corner.
[20:43] <Shaman> Grimalkin, noticing the hatchling, bleats a few commands.
[20:44] <Shaman> It squeals defiantly, but another bleat puts it in its place.
[20:44] <Broose> You find yourselves in a seemingly infinite room full of evenly-spaced pillars and little else. Of course, you can guess that it looks that way because it's filled with mirrors.
[20:45] <Vaylon Kenadell> www.youtube.com/watch?v=PivWY9wn5ps
[20:46] <Vatican> Nikolai floats forward, admiring himself in the mirrors "I dont know what people are talking about." He adjusts his cavalier hat "How can something be out of style of one looks sooo good wearing it?!"
[20:46] <joo> How is he floating?
[20:46] <Vatican> I thought we were all floating
[20:46] <Vatican> we are still all floating, right?
[20:47] <Broose> You see, reflected in a countless number of mirrors, a light skinned man in blue robes with a bushy black beard.
[20:47] <Broose> You weren't floating, you just felt weightless because the gravity here is Magic Gravity instead of Real Gravity.
[20:48] <Vatican> well fuck
[20:48] <Vatican> next time, make it known that I'm not floating before I mention floating half a dozen times
[20:48] <Broose> I didn't want to crush your dreams.
[20:48] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel holds forth the chalk, staring at the nearest image of the robed man. "I suppose this belongs to you, then. We took it from a madman in Damerus... in Irla."
[20:49] <Shaman> Grimalkin bleats in support of Kestrel.
[20:49] <Vatican> Nikolai admires himself
[20:49] <Shaman> As if corroborating the story.
[20:50] <joo> I'm sure the mage will be impressed by her support.
[20:50] <Shaman> Damn
[20:50] <Shaman> Straight.
[20:51] <Broose> The man rubs his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm." He reaches his hand out, and it leaves the mirror, Kestrel, heading towards the chalk. What do you do?
[20:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> I'm fearless, but I'm not suicidal. At the moment.
[20:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel gives the chalk to the robed mage. She's no thief.
[20:53] <joo> Very well, Thief. He takes it from your hand.
[20:56] <Broose> He holds it in his hand for a few moments, poking his nose out to give it a sniff. "No trickery? How noble of you. Here, take it. It is but a trinket!" He hands it back to you, and then his arm retreats back into the mirror. He walks out of the mirror behind you, in the flesh. "I give it to you as a gift. And you will return the favor by telling me the story of how you found it!"
[20:57] <Broose> He snaps his fingers, and you're back in the previous room, sitting down at the table. He steeples his fingers.
[20:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> That's right. Everything Kestrel earned was stolen fair and square.
[20:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> So... we're all back downstairs?
[20:58] <Broose> Yes.
[20:59] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel introduces herself and waits a moment for her companions to introduce themselves as well.
[20:59] <joo> Is Oliver sitting on a pile of books or something?
[21:00] <Broose> No, he probably just can't see over the table.
[21:00] <Broose> Or maybe he's sitting on Grimalkin in goat form.
[21:00] <joo> He stands on his chair! And introduces himself as "Oliver."
[21:00] <joo> Heh.
[21:00] <Vatican> Nikolai blinks for a moments, then flashes a smile "Nikolai of Ardmor. Wanderer. Adventurer. Lollygagger."
[21:01] <Broose> Damn, it's less charming in retrospect when everyone realizes it's just a canned line of his.
[21:01] <Vatican> He wears the same clothes for over 200 years, and you want originality?
[21:01] <Broose> Hah, good point.
[21:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> Man, everyone here knows the story.
[21:02] <Vaylon Kenadell> Am I going to have to sum it up again?
[21:03] <Broose> No, you can just gloss over it.
[21:03] <Shaman> Grimalkin introduces herself with a bleat.
[21:04] <Shaman> She seems much more comfortable being a mountain goat.
[21:04] <Broose> The mage introduces himself simply as Alharis.
[21:04] <Vaylon Kenadell> Allowing for comments from Oliver, Norman, and Peio, and the occasional witticism from Nikolai and bleat from Grimalkin, Kestrel tells the robed mage the story of Markas, the mad knight, and his plans, and especially the things he said about the chalk. She tried to find out where it came from.
[21:07] <Shaman> Mention the thunder god specifically?
[21:08] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, well, I assumed the storm elementals would be included in "his plans."
[21:09] <Shaman> Just the name, really
[21:09] <Shaman> Is what I'm suggesting.
[21:09] <Vaylon Kenadell> Eldingar!
[21:09] * Vaylon Kenadell shakes a fist.
[21:09] <joo> Maybe that will ring a bell.
[21:09] <Vaylon Kenadell> El-ding-ding-ding-ding-ar.
[21:15] [joo:#DungeonWorld PING]
[21:15] [Vaylon Kenadell:#DungeonWorld PING]
[21:15] <Broose> Alharis nods slowly as you wrap up the story. "The chalk was stolen from me during a rare visit to the material plane." He says, running a hand through his beard. "There are strange things happening in the Sphaeram, and I suspect they originated there. So I was working on research. The thieves accosted me in the city, and made off with that chalk, and a number of other baubles as well."
[21:16] <Broose> Best stop pinging out like a mad bitch over there.
[21:16] <Vaylon Kenadell> home.comcast.net/~vaylon/noidea.jpg
[21:17] <Broose> Don't worry, neither do I.
[21:18] <Shaman> Grimalkin unfurls from her mountain goat form, with an alarmed expression marring her human visage.
[21:18] <Shaman> "Where trees?" she asks.
[21:18] <Shaman> Concerned. Uncomfortable. The realization hit her like a magic train.
[21:19] <joo> Bwoooooomp!
[21:19] <Broose> But not like a ghost train.
[21:19] <joo> (dingdingdingdingdingding!)
[21:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> [diabolic whistle intensifies]
[21:19] <joo> Hahah.
[21:22] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel says, "Permit my curiosity, as I would like to more fully understand these goings-on. What is the Sphaeram? And... does the name 'Eldingar' mean anything to you?"
[21:22] <Vaylon Kenadell> I suppose I could have just rolled spout lore, possibly.
[21:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> Nikolai is old; maybe he knows.
[21:23] <joo> Why risk a barbed devil when you can just ask?
[21:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, wait.
[21:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> He's not old. He's accursed. I forgot.
[21:23] <Broose> He's also pretty old.
[21:23] <Vaylon Kenadell> Oh, right.
[21:24] <Broose> But 'ancient' to me means like, 1000+.
[21:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> Yeah.
[21:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> He's still a baby vampire.
[21:24] <Broose> At that point he could be all, yeah, I knew Khaldun. We were chill.
[21:24] <Vatican> Nah. Not a baby, they get their own moves
[21:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> Heh.
[21:24] <Vatican> I'm more of an..angsty youth vamp
[21:24] <joo> Is there a DW class for babies?
[21:25] <Vatican> Recently Turned Your appearance can never become monstrously inhuman. Additionally, You may call upon the elder vampire who sired you for assistance, and he’ll help you… for a price.
[21:25] <Vaylon Kenadell> Well, there's that Chef compendium class...
[21:25] <joo> Ah.
[21:25] <joo> What are you saying about chefs?
[21:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> There's a compendium class supplement somewhere out there with a chef in it.
[21:26] <joo> What does that have to do with babies?
[21:26] <Vaylon Kenadell> Nothing. Just a modest proposal.
[21:27] <joo> What?!
[21:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> I think I am confusing joo.
[21:27] <Vaylon Kenadell> It was a very extended eating babies joke, joo.
[21:27] <joo> Oh, I see.
[21:32] <Broose> Alharis clears his throat. "The Sphaeram is that which contains all known planes of existence. It is filled with an infinite void in which the known planes float. I do not know this Eldingar, but I am familiar with lightning elementals, and it is troubling that they were able to pass into your plane so easily. It is in line with what I have been researching -- I believe the barriers surrounding the planes are being weakened." He strokes his beard. "It is all very fascinating to a mage like myself, but I suppose not so much to you."
[21:33] <Broose> He shakes his head to you, Grimalkin. "No, I'm afraid I keep no trees here!"
[21:35] <joo> "What were the other things stolen from you?" Oliver asks.
[21:35] <joo> "Not a... lightning spear, by any chance?"
[21:36] <Broose> He shakes his head. "No, it seems the madman you encountered derived his power from the lightning elementals."
[21:36] * Broose prays he has managed to dodge the original question entirely.
[21:36] <joo> I expect a full list.
[21:36] <joo> No, not really.
[21:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Weakening the barriers surrounding planes?" Kestrel frowns a little to herself in thought, and then she briefly tells Alharis about Khaldun, his winged friends, and the dream of darkness.
[21:38] <Vaylon Kenadell> "Is this related, somehow?"
[21:39] <Broose> ("Probably. It would be strange for you to have two main quests.")
[21:39] <Vaylon Kenadell> Haha.
[21:40] <Vaylon Kenadell> But that's exactly what happened in mind!
[21:40] <Vaylon Kenadell> *mine!
[21:40] <Broose> What are you referring to?
[21:40] <Vaylon Kenadell> All of the Al-Masar stuff is completely unrelated to any other plot line.
[21:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Almost everything you've encountered has been its own unrelated event.
[21:41] <Broose> Yeah, but what's the second Main Quest?
[21:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Couldn't say.
[21:41] <joo> Something about ghosts.
[21:41] <Vaylon Kenadell> Ghosts or something, yeah.
[21:50] <Broose> Alharis shrugs. "I could not say, but I hope to learn more in time. You are fighting this ancient human, Khaldun, then? You must be powerful." He nods emphatically, scratching his chin. "When I learn more about this threat to the Sphaeram, I will call upon you. The material plane may be in great danger."
[21:52] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel laughs hollowly. "Not powerful enough. Alharis, what you've said is disturbing... I think I speak for everyone when I say that we would be willing to gather evidence of anything that may be of interest to you in your research on the ... Sphaeram. Is there some method or device we may use against those from other planes?"
[21:55] <Broose> Damn magical item beggars coming to my pocket dimension all the time.
[21:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hey, it doesn't have to be a magical item.
[21:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Maybe theres a secret technique.
[21:56] <Vatican> that involves a magical item
[21:56] <Vaylon Kenadell> Maybe this is like that tower that Goku had to climb to get those beans.
[21:56] <Broose> Kick them in the balls!
[21:56] <Broose> Hahaha.
[21:56] <Broose> Of course it's beans.
[21:57] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hahaha.
[21:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Okay, then. Teach us Kaio-ken.
[21:58] <Vaylon Kenadell> Or the Kamehameha Wave!
[21:59] <Vatican> or the hyperbolic time chamber
[22:00] <Vaylon Kenadell> I think things are about to get hyperbolic in here.
[22:00] <Shaman> Ha!
[22:06] <Broose> "Magic will affect almost any being from outside the material plane. But if you aren't able to work magic, anything imbued with it will do as well." He nods. "In the ancient times, there were weapons crafted specially to fight planar creatures, but they are likely lost to time, and difficult to uncover now."
[22:09] <Shaman> "Pl-pla-planahr." Grimakin struggles to repeat.
[22:10] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel bows her head. "Very well. I am anxious to return to my lord. Will you send us back? How may we contact you again? I feel that my quest will lead us down darker paths, still."
[22:10] <joo> Are the prisoners still rolling around on the ground in this room?
[22:11] <Broose> No, they're just chilling and wondering what the fuck is going on.
[22:11] <Broose> If any of them had a gun, this would probably be scary enough that they'd want to shoot somebody.
[22:12] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hahaha.
[22:12] <Shaman> Heh
[22:13] <Vatican> Gotta sleep soonish. work tommorow
[22:17] <Broose> "You may return with the chalk, or I can send you somewhere else, if you'd like." He says. He snaps his fingers, and a small, rolled up scroll appears in his hand. "Use this to return here, if you need to! But it will only work once." He hands the scroll over.
[22:19] <Shaman> Could we come back for more?
[22:19] <Vaylon Kenadell> hah!
[22:20] <joo> What is Escatair doing? Is he just too intimidated by the mage's beard to speak?
[22:20] <Broose> ...
[22:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> When he says "you may return with the chalk," does he mean we may use the chalk to return as originally intended?
[22:20] <Vaylon Kenadell> Escatair was in the place we left him back in the village.
[22:20] <Broose> Come on, joo. You're better than that.
[22:20] <joo> Wet?
[22:20] <joo> ...oh, yes, we did leave him there.
[22:21] <Broose> Peio is too intimidated by the beard to speak, though.
[22:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> joo is hitting the halfling sauce tonight.
[22:21] <Broose> Yes, Kestrel, that's what he meant.
[22:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel is not intimidated. She had her amygdala surgically removed at some point, I think.
[22:21] <joo> I going All The Way.
[22:21] <Vaylon Kenadell> Kestrel takes the scroll and gets to her feet. She bows formally. "My thanks, Alharis." She glances at the others. "Well, shall we go back? Gather around."
[22:22] <joo> Oliver bows to Alharis. "A pleasure to meet you."
[22:22] <joo> He takes a handful of Kestrel.
[22:23] <Shaman> Grimalkin is so confused, she bleats in human form. She finds some guidance in Oliver and grabs a handful of Kestrel as well.
[22:23] <Vatican> Nikolai nods, and also grabs ahold of Kestrel
[22:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> Hey, a handful is all you need.
[22:24] * Vaylon Kenadell whispers. "No it isn't."
[22:24] <Shaman> But dat booty.
[22:24] <Vaylon Kenadell> After making sure all the prisoners and Wendy et alli are gathered -- "Tavern."
[22:25] <Broose> Liftoff!
[22:25] <Shaman> Hatchling too! Phew.
[22:26] <Broose> You go through the same process as before, bursting out of the strange mage's home and going back to your home plane.
[22:27] <Broose> After only a few moments, you find yourselves back in Kestrel's room in the tavern.
[22:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> Ah, well, hmm, maybe we should stop here. I'm feeling tired.
[22:29] <Broose> Sounds good to me.
[22:29] <Vaylon Kenadell> joo has lost his mind, apparently, and Vatican has work tomorrow.
[22:29] <Vatican> Agree. Must sleep
[22:29] <Broose> Let us end of session.

[17:15] <Broose> Yes, looking around with your ranger eyes, you see a patch of dirt that looks out of place. Fortunately it's night, so you don't get any strange looks for milling about here.

[19:39] <joo> Sorry. I'm forgetting things like a mad bitch, apparently.
