Session 6
I uh Wish I Were a Bird
16 August 2015
00:31 <joo> In the previous session, you had slain a giant bear with red eyes; and, as the forest fire you started earlier started to encroach your position, you continued to the southeast.
00:32 <joo> *encroach on
00:32 <Vaylon> Theo: Eh? What kind?
00:33 <Theo> Just a call with my best mate.
00:33 <joo> The air seems to grow hot all around you as you hurry on, but it beats especially hard against your backs, seeming to urge you forward. The ground at your feet, however, becomes ever more treacherous, with tree roots sticking up from the boggy ground like emaciated rib cages.
00:34 <Bruce> Let's pop off on this fucking tomb!
00:35 <joo> There is also a chorus of birds of all kinds overhead that you hear and occasionally see through the foliage, which seem to be going the same way.
00:35 <Vaylon> Let's get out of here, alread.y
00:36 <joo> After 2 hours or so, the trees start to thin, and the vast Haismire stretches before you: a stagnant bog that extends as far as you can see before disappearing into mist, dotted with small columns of rock and the occasional hardy tree.
00:37 <joo> The birds wheel overhead and call weakly, their voices snatched away by the wind.
00:38 <joo> What do you do? Will you continue into this bog, towards where you were told the tomb was?
00:39 <Vaylon> I'm not sure how this is really a choice you have to ask us.
00:39 <Vaylon> What are we going to do, say, "You know what? Let's turn around and leave through the burning forest."
00:40 <Bruce> Perhaps there is another path bypassing this fucked up bog.
00:40 <Vaylon> The tomb is in the bog, isn't it?
00:40 <Bruce> But I'm not scared of any swamp.
00:40 <Theo> Sparrow stops at the edge of the bog, pulling his hood back slightly to see clearer and grimaces, "Be hard going through this. Sure you're up for it?" he asks the others, crouching down and looking forward.
00:42 <Vaylon> Hawthorn dusts the leaves off his robes, leaving the soot and ashes, and he says to Sparrow, "We've come this far together, and yet you still have to ask?"
00:42 <Bruce> Refresh our memory on the area surrounding this tomb, joo.
00:43 <joo> The tomb lies within this massive bog, somewhere to the south-east. Humans living to the north and east do not have common knowledge of what lies within.
00:44 <Theo> Sparrow smirks at Hawthorn, "I ask so I ain't the one blamed when things go wrong."
00:44 <joo> However, what can see from the terrain so far tells you that it won't be a strightforward journey.
00:44 <joo> (You may often have to turn back or take the long way around to avoid submerging yourselves.)
00:45 <Bruce> Waldemar nods forward, resolute. Probably because he's got this big ass curse hanging over his head. "Let us continue onward."
00:46 <joo> If you do go forward, you will be undertaking a perilous journey. Designate a trailblazer, to lead the group, a scout, to spot any trouble ahead, and a quartermaster to manage your supplies.
00:46 <Vaylon> Hawthorn gazes at Sparrow. "You are the one with doubts about this journey." He nods to Waldemar. "Indeed, but let me catch my breath for a moment and meditate for a while."
00:46 <Bruce> i like to blaze it.
00:48 <Vaylon> Let's make camp here first, if we can.
00:49 <Bruce> Are we still about to be Consumed by Flames?
00:49 <joo> No, it seems the fire chose to take a different path within the forest, and here, on its eaves, you are afforded a small amount of shelter as well as relatively solid ground.
00:50 <joo> You may make camp, and if you do, I believe that Waldemar, Sparrow and Hawthorn may level up.
00:50 <joo> (Are you all really still level 1?)
00:50 <joo> Oh, Sparrow and Hawthorn are level 2.
00:50 <Vaylon> I'm level 2 about to advance to level 3.
00:51 <Bruce> Waldemar agrees to rest, then.
00:52 <joo> Hawthorn loses his -1 ongoing to Cast a Spell, and may commune with his god to prepare new spells, if he wishes.
00:52 <Vaylon> He will! Now that he's level 3, he takes Divine Protection and +1 Wisdom. The spells that he will ask for are...
00:53 <Theo> "I have no protection from a God and I don't ask for it. 'course I have doubts when my neck is at risk." Sparrow retorts, sitting properly as the others rest, sharpening his dagger.
00:54 <joo> What is the proper way to sit in a swamp?
00:56 <Theo> On a tree branch.
00:57 <joo> Hahah.
00:57 <Theo> He was crouching to start with
00:57 <joo> I uh wish I were a bird.
00:57 <Bruce> Waldemar will take +1 Constitution and the move Metal Hurlant.
00:57 <joo> A fat move.
00:58 <Vaylon> pastebin.com/Rpiz8wEK
01:00 <joo> You appear not to have updated his Wisdom.
01:00 <Theo> I'll be taking Shoot First and +1 to Constitution.
01:00 <Bruce> I was tempted to take Quest as a multiclass move, but I figure I'll save that for later.
01:00 <Vaylon> Whoops, I forgot to update his Wisdom.
01:01 <Vaylon> Bruce the Bardadin.
01:01 <joo> Very good.
01:04 <joo> Are you saying that Hawthorn has Bless, Detect Magic, Sanctuary and Burning Hands prepared?
01:04 <Bruce> I still don't understand what is happening with "It Goes To Eleven".
01:04 <Vaylon> Yes.
01:04 <Vaylon> Oh! Yes.
01:05 <Vaylon> Bruce: You drive someone craz.
01:05 <Vaylon> *crazy.
01:05 <joo> Hmm... right.
01:06 <Bruce> It seems weird that it's a single target thing, and that the effects are so limited.
01:07 <joo> Technically, whenever you "unleash a crazed performance,"
01:08 <joo> you have to make someone in hearing attack their friends.
01:08 <joo> So, for example, when you're alone with a single friend.
01:09 <Bruce> www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl9GMOTaqtc <-- someone regretting taking this move.
01:09 <Vaylon> We're kind of low on rations now, I note. I have 1 left.
01:10 <joo> Yes, I was about to mention that. Everyone marks off 1 ration, and you see that you'll have to be lucky to make this journey without getting hungry.
01:10 <Bruce> *Waldemar chortling with two rations left.jpeg*
01:10 <joo> Dungeon World: Don't Starve edition.
01:11 <Bruce> Sounds like we need a Damn good quartermaster.
01:11 <Vaylon> Hawthorn will act as the quartermaster.
01:12 <Bruce> The guy has a reputation for feeding the enemy, but I'll allow it.
01:12 <joo> Heh.
01:13 <joo> Hmm... if I'm correct, Hawthorn is the only one with 1 ration, also.
01:13 <Vaylon> Who will be the scout and the trailblazer?
01:14 <joo> Sparrow and Waldemar both have 2.
01:14 <Bruce> I will be the scout.
01:15 <Theo> Which leaves me blazing.
01:15 <joo> Looks like it's going to the Blind leading the Blind.
01:15 <joo> All roll +WIS for the journey!
01:15 <Bruce> Let's go triple failure, guys.

01:16 <joo> oooh.
01:16 <Bruce> i think were the ones whose are going to get blazed, and NOT in a good way
01:16 <joo> Well, Hawthorn's expert food management might just save the day!
01:17 <joo> Everyone marks off only 1 ration, and you're all well-fed and at full health before...
01:17 * Vaylon marks off his last ration with a tear in his eyes. "Never before has this happened to me."
01:17 <Theo> Sparrow gets stuck and Waldemar gets carried off by a giant butterfly.
01:18 <joo> Hahahaha.
01:18 <Bruce> I fear nothing. I have the legendary sword, the Blade of Grass.
01:18 <joo> Sparrow, you try to lead the party to the south-east, but you've never been this deep in the swamp before, and your attempt is confused by the maze-like pits of stagnant water. You end up being forced to wander some way South of your true destination.
01:19 <joo> You arrive at a small hill, however, which is raised from the ground and littered with yellowish craggy rocks and some forlorn black leafless trees.
01:21 <joo> Beyond, the swamp vegetation grows greener, and you can hear a chirping of insects and see some colourful flowers floating on the water.
01:21 <Bruce> this is actually beautiful
01:22 <joo> Within the trees here, you suddenly notice, are what look like massive nests made out of shreds of vegetation, bearing large ovoid brown speckled eggs.
01:22 <Bruce> Oh god. It's fucking dinosaurs.
01:23 <joo> And, suddenly, you hear a cacophany of harsh birdlike cries and feel the rush of wingbeats above your heads. Savage-looking bird-like humanoids with sharp claws are falling upon you. What do you do?!
01:23 <Bruce> Or they are dragons, and joo is exacting his revenge on me, GM to GM.
01:24 <Bruce> Ohhh goddd.
01:24 <Bruce> Well, I suspect both Vaylon and Theo will want to make peace with these creatures, so I have to try.
01:24 <Theo> Sparrow pauses for a moment, scratching his cheek and frowning, "Surely we should be there by now.." he mutters, glancing at the hill, "We should be able to see the general direction of the tomb from the top of that hill. Try and keep quiet. I don't fancy disturbing the mama of those eggs." he adds before growling and drawing his sword and dagger as the avians charge forward, "Too late..."
01:26 <Vaylon> "Peace!" cries Hawthorn, holding up his hands. "Peace! We came not to disturb the inhabitants of this swamp."
01:27 <Bruce> Waldemar takes several steps back away from the eggs, and doesn't draw his sword just yet.
01:27 <joo> Hawthorn, you hear your words echoed back to you in scratchy, mocking voices. "Peace! Peace!" they cry out as their razor talons grasp for your neck.
01:27 <Bruce> Oh, they're fucking bullies.
01:28 <Bruce> Quit picking on my damn friend.
01:29 <Bruce> Waldemar draws his sword. "Away from him, I say! AWAY!" He directs his thunderous voice towards one of the demented bird-men!
01:30 <joo> What will all do to defend yourself against the imminent attack?
01:30 <joo> *you all
01:30 <joo> (If anything; you may choose to just Take it, I suppose.)
01:31 <Bruce> Waldemar will hold his ground and brace himself for their attack while he shouts at one of the bird-men attacking Hawthorn.
01:32 <Theo> Are we all getting attacked?
01:32 <Vaylon> Hmm...
01:33 <joo> Yes, the bird-people are falling on your all from the sky, grabbing at you with their talons.
01:33 <Vaylon> Hawthorn tries to dodge the bird-men's attack!

01:33 <joo> *-r
01:33 <Bruce> Can I act as I described? Defy Danger with CON and then Metal Hurlant?

01:35 <Theo> Sparrow looks up and grits his teeth before looking at the eggs. In a quick choice, he sprints toward them.
01:35 <joo> Oh... add 1 to the damage to Hawthorn.
01:36 <joo> Hawthorn is being swarmed by 3 of the bird-people at once, while Sparrow and Waldemar have 2 each.
01:36 <Theo> Now, would my roll be dex or quick thinking?
01:36 <Bruce> For some reason I read "Hawthorn is being smashed by 3 of the bird-people at once"
01:37 <joo> Waldemar, the talons scratch at your face, leaving deep cuts, and preventing you from unleashing your song.
01:37 <joo> I think that's Quick Thinking, Sparrow.
01:37 <Bruce> It wasn't going to be much of a song.

01:39 <Theo> Come at me GM. Give me an Ugly Choice.
01:39 <Bruce> oof.
01:40 <joo> Hmm... that could be arranged.
01:41 <Bruce> One of the birds grabs you and looks deeply into your eyes. You can avoid getting harmed by it if you let it take you as its human wife.
01:41 <joo> Hahaha.
01:41 <Theo> Haha!
01:41 <joo> Was Sparrow's intention to draw the bird-people away from his allies by threatening the eggs?
01:42 <Theo> Yup.
01:43 <joo> You manage to get there, Sparrow, but half of the avians are hot on your human tail. You can either defend yourself against them here, or you can smash some eggs and draw the attention of the whole flock.
01:44 <joo> If you choose the former, it might be difficult for your allies to intervene.
01:44 <Theo> I'll be a Bro and attract the whole flock, but only smash one egg.
01:47 <joo> Waldemar, you smash open one of the eggs, and a half-formed life spills out of it. One of the avians releases a terrible cry of rage, and flies at you, its beak snapping; the rest of them seem to be affected by this, and swarm you.
01:47 <joo> Hawthorn and Waldemar, you're left alone. What do you do?
01:47 <joo> *Sparrow!
01:49 <Theo> Don't be giving that bard credit for my awesome bravery!
01:50 <Vaylon> Hawthorn groans in agony at the rage of the bird-men, and seeing Sparrow distract the others, he raises his hands, muttering something under his breath.

01:51 <Bruce> Waldemar watches as Sparrow pulls off this stunt. "Sparrow, you brave fool! Hold fast!" He sprints towards the action and slashes out with his broadsword at one of the bird-men.
01:52 <joo> You can do that, Hawthorn: you can catch three of them in your spout of flame.

01:53 <joo> Probably for having a racist name.
01:53 <Theo> Hahaha!
01:54 <joo> Waldemar may roll his damage.
01:54 <joo> Meanwhile, Sparrow, what will you do to avoid being torn into pieces?

01:56 <Theo> Sparrow holds fast, his sword and dagger held in a defensive position. He quickly tries to move behind the eggs, hoping to use them as a type of shield.
01:56 <joo> Waldemar, the opal-hilted broadsword still holds a keen edge, and it bisects your enemy. The avian blood runs down the blade and onto your hand, as it does, knowledge of its enchantment flows into your mind:

01:59 <joo> Green Opal Broadsword (+1 damage, 2 weight)
01:59 <joo> A broadsword with a green opal decorating its hilt.
01:59 <joo> After you have drawn an enemy's blood with this blade and mingled it
01:59 <joo> with your own, choose one of the following when you slay the enemy:
01:59 <joo> - Heal yourself of half the HP the enemy lost to you.
01:59 <joo> - Take +2 damage forward against an enemy in the same water.
01:59 <joo> - Take +1 forward for Aid or Interfere an ally in the same water.
02:00 <Bruce> That sounds like a good way to get Bird Flu.
02:01 <joo> Heh.
02:01 <joo> Oh, I might need to re-write that to make it clearer...
02:01 <joo> "After you have drawn an enemy's blood with this blade and mingled it with your own in common waters, ...
02:02 <Bruce> Ahhh.
02:02 <joo> Of course, the "common waters" can be just your own blood serum, but that deprives you of the second two options.
02:03 <Bruce> Well... I'll figure out what you're on about as we go along.
02:03 <Bruce> No wonder that the last guy who had this thing died. He was trying to fight on fucking land with it.
02:04 <Vaylon> Let's just give the sword to a merfolk in exchange for something else.
02:04 <joo> Sparrow, you are successful in expertly dodging the angry talons and beaks of your attackers, and nestle yourself behind some eggs. The birds still come at you, but it will take them a bit of time to go around.
02:05 <Bruce> No, it's just missing the other artifact that makes it more useful. The Blade of Grass longs for its sisters, the Arrows of Rain.
02:05 <joo> Heh.
02:06 <joo> You all have an opportunity to act now. What will you do?
02:08 <Bruce> Waldemar slashes at one of the birds attacking Sparrow from behind, attempting a dirty-style de-winging.
02:08 <joo> Ooof.
02:08 <joo> Let's see what everyone is doing before seeing the Consequences.
02:08 <Bruce> But realistically it'll just die. lol
02:09 <Theo> Using one of his throwing daggers, Sparrow throws it at one of the birds, "Keep coming and I'll just destroy more of your eggs!" he shouts at them, picking one up as he does so.
02:09 <joo> Hmm...
02:09 <Bruce> Let me roll+CHA to convince the GM that the eggs are explosive.
02:09 <Theo> Haha!
02:09 <joo> Well, if you want to do both of those things, that will probably be defying danger.
02:10 <joo> Otherwise, it's either Volley or Parley.
02:10 <Vaylon> Hawthorn hesitates, looking over the scene of the angry bird-men in dismay. Finally, he begins to utter a prayer for Sparrow's boon with a quiet entreaty to flee and no longer harm these creatures, mad though they are.

02:12 <Vaylon> Life is full of paradoxes.
02:12 <Theo> Let's go for a volley this time around.

02:22 <joo> Sparrow, your time is up now, and the bird-persons are now swarming you from all sides. You have little hope of dodging away, now, unless you somehow slip through the feathery mass. Sharp talons reach for you. What do you do?

02:28 <joo> You lose 2 HP.
02:28 <joo> Waldemar and Hawthorn, what are you doing?
02:30 <Bruce> Waldemar can't keep watching his homie get torn apart. He's going to back up to one of the eggs, fending off the bird still on him, and attempt to pacify the birds with the threat of murdering more of their chitlin.

02:34 <Bruce> Waldemar holds his boot above the egg threateningly, and gets the birds' attention with a shout.
02:39 <joo> The bird-persons turn and observe you for a few seconds. The one from earlier who became enraged when Sparrow smashed the egg caws angrily, and makes for Sparrow still; but two other grab it. There's a bit of fighting, then they turn again.
02:40 <joo> One of the bird-people, who looks older and larger than the others, alights to the ground, and makes its ungainly way towards you, Waldemar. It gestures angrily at the smashed egg, then at Sparrow, making a questioning caw.
02:42 <Bruce> Waldemar points at Sparrow and then taps his fist against his chest. He will not sell Sparrow to these dirty birds.
02:43 <Theo> Sparrow stands up in the nest, his shortsword still drawn but his dagger sheathed.
02:43 <Theo> <3
02:44 <joo> The Angry Bird from earlier croaks out something that sounds like "kill... for kill!"

02:46 <Bruce> This is quite the diplomatic situation.
02:46 <joo> Another bird lands in a tree behind you, Waldemar, and extends a talon around your neck. "You fool die for fool? Or whaat?"
02:48 <Bruce> Waldemar clears his throat. "I... think... NOT!" He turns to shout at the bird behind him at the last second!
02:49 <Theo> Sparrow grits his teeth and steps out of the nest, sheathing his sword and listening quietly, "Wait." he says, his voice low.
02:49 <Bruce> Sorry, Sparrow, I think I have committed to this being a Hoedown.
02:50 <Theo> Seems you have!
02:50 <joo> You may opt to allow Sparrow to interrupt you if you like.

02:50 <joo> Interfere? I don't think that's what Sparrow is doing.

02:57 <joo> What do you all do?
02:59 <Vaylon> Hawthorn, who has been until this time standing at a total loss, is finally moved to action with the shout. Quietly, sinking to his knees into the muck of the bog, he opens his last healing potion and offers it to the waters with a plaintive prayer.

05:01 <joo> It's to the North-East of here.
05:01 <Bruce> Waldemar sits back against the rock and catches his breath. "Indeed. But we have not the supplies to rest."
05:01 <joo> Damn. Waldemar's been reading the DW rules.
05:02 <Bruce> I mean, it takes time.
05:02 <Bruce> Presumably Waldemar realizes that if they spend more time sitting around healing, they'll just end up starving to death eventually.
05:02 <joo> Faire enough.
05:03 <joo> Perhaps we should call this a Session, and you can think on what to do next in the next one, then.
05:03 <Bruce> Hawthorn needs a spell from the Firebringer that lets him conjure Jalapeno Cheese Bread.
05:03 <joo> LOL
05:04 <joo> You should have taken some of those eggs, bro.
05:04 <Bruce> You get Dark Side points for eating those.
05:05 <Bruce> Like the Crunchy Chick from Fable.
05:05 <joo> But if there were an Iron Chef in this party, they would have likely insisted on it.
05:06 <Theo> I almost had Sparrow steal a coupl of those eggs actually XD
05:06 <joo> Hey, you still have that rotting dragonfly corpse.
05:06 <Bruce> That would not be the first time a Thief has stolen monster eggs.
05:06 <joo> You'll eventually be hungry enough.
05:07 <Bruce> Well, at least the XP was mad.
05:07 <joo> Since nobody has objected, I'll call it an End.
05:07 <joo> !missed-rolls
05:07 <PageBot> Missed rolls (estimated): Bruce: 9 of 20, Vaylon: 4 of 25, Theo: 4 of 12, joo: 5 of 18. Full list: <http://pastebin.com/nJ97D3u5>.
05:07 <joo> ...well, some of those are from before the session.
05:08 <joo> Waldemar failed 5 rolls, Sparrow 4, and Hawthorn 1.
05:09 <Bruce> Man, I'm throwing on full plate as soon as I find any, penalty or not.
05:09 <joo> Who satisfied their alignment move for this session?
05:09 <Vaylon> I think Hawthorn endangered himself to heal another.
05:09 <Theo> Not Sparrow!
05:09 <joo> Yes, he healed the swamp by pouring that potion into it.
05:09 <Bruce> I think Waldemar may have Spurred some things, but I'm not sure.
05:10 <joo> When did Hawthorn endanger himself to heal another?
05:10 <joo> I thought that Waldemar's alignment was still Neutral.
05:11 <Bruce> No, it's been Chaotic for at least a couple sessions.
05:12 <Vaylon> Hmm... he healed people during dangerous situations, but I suppose he didn't endanger himself.
05:12 <joo> Oh... so he did. I don't know why my notes are so out of d8.
05:13 <Bruce> Because you've lost control of your life, and you have become more Chaotic while I have grown more Lawful.
05:14 <joo> I can't recall that any of the action Waldemar spurred was decisive.
05:14 <joo> Indeed, almost all of the Action in this session was quite undecisive.
05:14 <joo> Therefore, I think that nobody gets alignment XP.
05:15 <joo> Did you learn something new and important about the world?
05:15 <Bruce> Yes, we learned that it's an asshole.
05:15 <Vaylon> Nope.
05:16 <Vaylon> It's a cold, cruel world, even to a holy man.
05:16 <joo> And here you are, wading through the Swamp Arsehole of the world.
05:17 <joo> I thought that the existence of the race of anthropomorphic birds might be considered significant.
05:17 <joo> However, perhaps they aren't intelligent enough to be so.
05:18 <joo> Did you overcome a notable monster or enemy?
05:19 <joo> The demented crocodile might be considered notable. It depends on your characters, I suppose.
05:19 <Bruce> I should have killed that old goddamn bird.
05:19 <joo> Finally, I don't think you looted any memorable treasure.
05:20 <joo> Given that it almost killed Waldemar, I think I'll count the crocodile and say that you get 1/3 session XP.
05:21 <joo> Does anybody have any bonds to form or resolve?
05:22 <Vaylon> Nope.
05:22 <Theo> Not me.
05:22 <Bruce> Not I.
05:23 <joo> In that case, Waldemar gains 6 XP, Sparrow 5, and Hawthorn 2, leaving them at respectively 9/9, 8/10, and 2/10 XP, respectively.

02:08 <joo> Let's see what everyone is doing before seeing the Consequences.
02:08 <Bruce> But realistically it'll just die. lol
02:09 <Theo> Using one of his throwing daggers, Sparrow throws it at one of the birds, "Keep coming and I'll just destroy more of your eggs!" he shouts at them, picking one up as he does so.

02:22 <joo> Sparrow, your time is up now, and the bird-persons are now swarming you from all sides. You have little hope of dodging away, now, unless you somehow slip through the feathery mass. Sharp talons reach for you. What do you do?

02:27 <joo> The avians claw at you incessantly, but in their anger they aren't able to land hits deft enough to seriously break your defence.
02:30 <joo> I'm sure that will calm them down.

02:54 <Bruce> He wasn't holding it, just threatening to stomp it.
02:54 <joo> Oh, yes.
02:55 <Bruce> He won't stomp it, though. That would be rude.
02:56 <joo> Waldemar, your mighty voice causes the air to shake, and the bird behind you falls to the ground, its ears bleeding. A few second later, your "NOT!" echoes back, then again, softter.
02:57 <joo> The birds are still standing in amazement, but then they all go for Sparrow, trying to lift him up into the air.
03:01 <Bruce> How many birds still live?
03:01 <joo> 5 birds.

04:44 <joo> 1, in this case.
04:45 <Theo> !r 2d6+1 (Save him!)
04:45 <PageBot> Theo: 12=5+6(+1) (Save him!)
04:45 <Bruce> Oh god, he's just going to spawn a second crocodile.
04:45 <Theo> \o/
04:45 <joo> Hahaha.
04:45 <Bruce> !r 2d6+2 And it ends too soon for us all
04:45 <PageBot> Bruce: 7=3+2(+2) And it ends too soon for us all
04:45 <joo> Maybe the battle is finally going in your favour!
04:45 <joo> Dammnnnn.
04:45 <joo> Roll your damage against the crocodilian.
04:46 <Bruce> !r d6 Damage
04:46 <PageBot> Bruce: 6 Damage
04:46 <Bruce> *coughin up blood* im still breathin
04:46 <joo> !r d8+3 -- Damage to Waldemar.
04:46 <PageBot> joo: 4=1(+3) -- Damage to Waldemar.
04:47 <joo> Holy shit. The Gods are in your favour.
04:47 <Bruce> Does my attack get it to let go of me?
04:48 <joo> Your knife sinks deeply into the beast's flesh, thanks to Sparrow's help, and its black blood darkens the water, making it difficult to see. In the confusion, you are released from its jaws.
04:48 <Bruce> Waldemar swims so fast out of there he practically starts sprinting on the surface of the water.
04:48 <Theo> Sparrow follows!
04:48 <joo> Sparrow, Waldemar, what do you do?! And what is Hawthorn doing, now?!
04:48 <joo> Heh.
04:49 <Vaylon> Hawthorn splashes after Waldemar, awkwardly fumbling with the longsword!
04:50 <joo> By the way, I think the +1 from Bless would have applied to the Aid roll, but it didn't matter in this case.
04:50 <joo> And where is "after Waldemar," exactly?
04:51 <Theo> "Get as much onto the shore as you can. We need to hide." Sparrow says breathlessly.
04:51 <joo> www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KfG8G3sUNs
04:52 <Vaylon> Wherever Waldemar is going.
04:52 <joo> It looks like you're leading this Retreat, Waldemar.
04:53 <Bruce> Well, if I make it to the shore, I'm fucking running into the forest.
04:53 <joo> If indeed it be a retreat.
04:53 <joo> Forest?!
04:53 <Bruce> Err,
04:53 <joo> That's quite a way.
04:54 <Bruce> I will start sprinting wherever the ground looks solid, as long as it won't have me running directly towards some birds.
04:56 <joo> Hmm... very well. Waldemar runs almost blindly wherever his feet take him, and the rest of you presumably follow. The setting sun casts long shadows before you. You make your way up hill, and you find a curious rock formation you're able to hide in.
04:57 <Bruce> Oh god.
04:57 <joo> Eventually the questing calls of the bird-people die out, and, looking around you, you see that a cave leads down into the rock where you are.
04:57 <Bruce> It's probably an ancient fucking crocodile god shrine.
04:58 <joo> Probbly.
04:58 <joo> What will you do now?
04:58 <Vaylon> Okay, how are we doing on HP?
04:58 <Bruce> I have 9/23 HP.
04:58 <joo> By my count: Waldemar 9/23, Sparrow 12/23, and Hawthorn 16/21.
04:59 <joo> Er... Sparrow 12/20.
04:59 <Bruce> I would have been in the Death Zone if that thing got another attack on me.
04:59 <Vaylon> !r 2d6+2 Cast a Spell: Cure Light Wounds
04:59 <PageBot> Vaylon: 8=4+2(+2) Cast a Spell: Cure Light Wounds
04:59 <Bruce> Well, I suggest we don't camp here.
05:00 <Bruce> Do we have any idea where the tomb is from here?
05:00 <Vaylon> !r 1d8 Healing
05:00 <PageBot> Vaylon: 2 Healing
05:00 <joo> Who is Hawthorn healing?
05:00 <Vaylon> Hawthorn will take -1 ongoing to cast a spell.
05:00 <Vaylon> Murmuring a spell of well-being under his breath, his hand on tired Waldemar's shoulder, he glances down and frowns. "This is a nightmarish place."
05:00 <Vaylon> Waldemar.
05:01 <joo> Hmm... well, Sparrow, you were leading the way to the Tomb, and you haven't strayed too far from where you knew the direction to it.
